De-icing at the gate is a terrible idea, it’s a safety risk for tug drivers during push back, because the de-icing liquid is very slippery the tug wheels can’t get traction so the planes weight can pull the tug in the wrong direction.

This is why for international flights, I always try to keep a connection time of at least 2 hours, since passport control, going through security, and then making it on time before doors closed. 55 minutes is too little as you basically have only 45 minutes before doors close.

In Europe connecting between two Schengen flights is very simple you just have to leave the airplane and then go directly to another plane . Unfortunately Lufthansa group is having problems with getting flights actually on time .

@@aviationmartin3246 it depends on the flight you take. In my experience, I always had to either go through passport control or security a second time.
