Thanks for the video. You provided really useful information. I am thinking going Navy now just to get a linguist or signals job. Speaking of linguist, why did you say CTIs are the most weird? Thought that was pretty funny. If I can't get CTI, CTR seems cool. Tell your colleague/friend thanks, too. Btw, you look like the actress Ashley Johnson. Just a brunette version.

It's almost impossible to fail Navy basic training, I went to basic in 2015 and I flew in with 2 rescue swimmer contract guys and 1 diver contact guy. I didn't get my PST scores up fast enough for a SO contract and had to go in as Corpsman. When we got to basic the diver contract guy failed the PST and had to be re-rated but idk about the rescue swimmer guys. Basic training in the Navy is fighting boredom and if you are athletic then you will lose your gains unless you pt behind your rack after taps and eat healthy. Be careful of working out behind your rack because some people are blue falcons and will tell on you to the RDCs trying to get cool points from them to get a phone call home as a reward 😂 if you can't make it through Navy basic training then something is wrong with you becaus RTC can be described in 2 words "Fighting Boredom" for 2 months. Only 1 person got kicked out of basic because she kept arguing with the RDCs and would yell back at them until they got tired and sent her to psych and they said she was bipolar.

If you decide to do something, then just DO IT. What is the problem? Y'all are weak Sallys and Steves; y'all are not motivated. I flunked out of college partying at 18 and faced the draft into the Army or Marines and getting straight to Nam. I could not desert my country, but would not fight in an unjust war, so I joined the U.S. Air Force with two buddies. Basic was a little mentally tough for about a week with someone screaming in your face all the time. After a week, I got Pneumonia from the stress and new germs floating around. I spent one weekend in the base hospital, but contimued training with my flight. I jogged with Pneunmonia, exercised, attended classes. After the second week, I learned that Basic was a game to show the correct attitude to the drill instructors. I finished with very high marks and enjoyed the four-year enlistment. I repaired all the advanced avionics for the FB-111. AND, never left the continental U.S...... mission accomplished. I DECIDED to attend university again, and to finish with Honors in three years. I also worked at least half-time to support myself above the G.I. bill level. Mission accomplished, a degree in accounting, in three years while working half time, with good grades. Setermine your goals and then ACCOMPLISH THEM. OBSTACLES ARE THERE TO BE OVERCOME. - The retired redneck accountant

An important part of getting a TS clearance is be honest, be absolutely honest with the person who is investigating your background. Part of thing they’re looking for is information that can be used and leveraged against you. And if you’re honest about some maybe not great thing on your past or bad debt, then that information is unlikely to be able to be used against you for blackmail to get information.

WTF? I'm in my 60's and can still perform at the top of the Navy's outstanding level for 20-24 year old males. Anyone in this age bracket who can't perform in the Excellent or better ranges is in such poor physical condition that I'd be worried about my physical safety if I had to rely on them to perform their duties. I don't want to die because someone isn't fit enough to do their job!

@@ShaeTaylorLife The USMC standards are pretty weak these days, too. The last time I was at MCAS New River and Camp Lejeune it was hard to believe Marines would ever be permitted to perform PT to such low expectations. Objective performance standards need to be established for every position, with one standard for all personnel. Of course, this would weed out 99% of all women so that is unacceptable in the modern political climate.

@@ShaeTaylorLife I don't need to think about it. Facts don't change based on gender or feelings. Objectively, women simply lack the upper body strength to perform most military duties. Their physical weakness should not jeopardize the lives of the men they are unfairly permitted to serve with.

He went down to what we called the " smoking sponson" and jumped into the persian gulf! We had to use a helo to pick him up and i dont know what happened to him after that but damb......he can tell people he swam in the persian gulf!

I am a Navy vet from the '70s and my son is a former CTIC, now mustang (non-LDO) LTJG. I don't know the reason you got out, but I hope you find what you're looking for. The transition to the civilian world can be daunting and very scary. And you are correct, civilians can never understand what it means to be a veteran. That part of your life never leaves you. It becomes part of your DNA. I hope you have applied for all VA benefits. Service Connected disabilities (even 10%) give you access to some great benefits. The VA also has a massive suicide prevention program. I have shared your videos with several people that were/are considering joining the Navy. Best of luck to you!

I understand your struggle but from a different perspective from my own career. You will get over the “break up.” (Like breaking up with a boyfriend). You are valid and know that you are going through the seven stages of grief. Those seven stages come and go in no particular order. If you still find yourself not able to move forward in a few months since it’s already been a year, I think CBT therapy is what I would do next. It will save so much time, believe me…I’ve been there. Surrounding yourself with people that remind you of the past that you miss may also be a trigger so you may find it best to avoid that until you are past a certain point. It’s your time for self discovery, to heal, to also find fun with discovery as well. You got this, I know you will find it! Now go out there, ask questions on topics you find interesting and a new teacher will appear!

Ill be honest as a Marine my opinion of Naval bootcamp is a joke. Way too timid with fat bodies all over the place. Running 1.5 miles in 20 minutes is nothing compared to the 3 mile run in 18 minutes or less outdoors or the PFT. Same with 100 sit ups in 2 minutes or less amd 23 pull-ups. Then there is the CFT as well. Not to include the gas chamber and O course. Or stair way to heaven among other courses. Having things blow up in my face at Pendleton or being smoked and fucked up by the DI. From getting Tornadoed to drinking canteens until you piss yourself. Or forcing 93 guys in their underwear to all bunch up into 2 stalls in the head. Or get locked in the Whiskey locker for hours with toxic fumes. I never hear anything like this from the Navy.

Shae, I just found this video, and think we may have been at the same command. Im sorry to hear your transition has been rough. Your feelings are valid and I had some of the same experiences. We all figure our transitions out differently and I hope you find a path that makes you happy. I have been out almost 4 years and it has been so much less stressful for me and thats where I have felt the most benefit. The "military" side of you will never leave, but you will find your way of balancing everything with your new life.

I went to bootcamp at RTC Orlando, Florida back in 1979. I served for 12 years and my rate was "RM", Radioman. . It was really something to hear what you said about bootcamp. It IS totally mental..! I used to get into trouble for laughing all the time. I was one of the younger guys and pretty fit back then so the only real thing that challenged me were the daily runs on the grinder in boondockers. I used to raise my arms at the "finish line" which earned us all another lap. If guys dropped out we would punch them in the back as they walked as that was another lap as well. I came in as an individual and I wondered just where on earth these other guys in my company came from..! It starts off with you just looking out for yourself, then it's you and your bunk mate, then it's "all of us on the Starboard side", then it's all of us that are left after the first couple of weeks. Those memories last forever. Also, walls = bulkheads, ceilings = overhead..! Thank you for sharing..!
