The original version of Chain Letters only ran for three series - there was only one Allan Stewart series not two. It was recorded as a prime-time series (as had been the Andrew O'connor one the previous year) but tanked in the ratings, was cancelled after 8 episodes (two of which were only ever shown on Tyne Tees) and the remainder burned off in the summer of 1990. It was always a dumb decision to put it in prime time but not increase the budget - it would have probably ran for a full decade had it remained on daytime as the ratings were always good there. I'm not surprised no-one remembers Pick Pockets - it was only ever shown in the North East and had only six editions - and I don't believe any still exist in the archives (this was the pilot, which was never broadcast).

Some great ones here, some I’ve never saw before. I don’t remember raisins in double decker, glad they don’t have them now. I hate raisins! Also, hob nob bars were great, wish they’d bring them back. What was the third viscount flavour? Only remember orange and mint.
@baination78215 күн бұрын
I don't remember what the third flavour was but maybe it was spearmint given the wrapper colour or double chocolate. I'm sure I remember them doing a raspberry one at some point for five minutes. Thanks for watching!

That feeling when you can sing along with 'The Red Car and the Blue Car' X years later, without any prompts. This really takes me back! Some of these felt so iconic, but completely forgotten since then. It's surprising to see how high the quality is in them (art, animation etc) and there's those bits you just didn't get as a little kid - like, man, that was Cab Calloway in the Hula Hoops advert!

Thanks for watching! I am very happy these adverts brought back such good memories for you and that you also got something new from them.

I miss the 80s. We only had three or four TV channels back then but the programs were of high quality. Even the adverts from the 80s were better than modern programs and some of the movies now that are clearly pushing a particular political ideology. The 80s was a golden era of innocent children’s TV and teen movies such as (Stand by Me), (Breakfast Club), (Goonies), (The princess bride), (Back to the future). Not to mention Sci Fi such as (ET) (Star wars) and (Honey I shrunk the kids) etc!! I’m an 80s child and I sometimes find myself day dreaming about being back there in the 80s including the early 90s with old friends and and when my own children were toddlers. That was in the days before addictive social media l. We used to climb trees, build dens, play out all summer with all our childhood friends on the streets and we’re not controlled by identity politics and cancel culture! Take me back to the 80s. It was a golden era!!
@baination782Ай бұрын
I agree with everything you have said 100%! The 80s were a more innocent time with better quality programs and music and yes even adverts which you can see some of here on the BaiNation channel if you didn't already know. Social media can be a bad thing these days except for good wholesome stuff like KZfaq when it comes to most content anyway. I do think kids should be out playing using their imagination and building dens as it would seem you and I both did as I was born the tail end of 76 and very much remember loads of the 80's just turning thirteen at the dawn of 1990. Thanks for watching!

I've never seen a compilation better sum up my childhood than this one (born 1980 for reference). There was even an 'oh shit 'moment with Raggy Dolls. Had totally forgotten it, yet it instantly came back as a show I loved way back then. Cheers mate. Your efforts are not unappreciated. I got to be a kid for a few minutes again.

UK 80s schoolboys watching the animated G1 series be like "Hang about, wotzis then? Who's that bloke with the cannon-arm? And why is Soundwave subordinate to him? Isn't he supposed to be the leader?"

I was one of those kids but I was never confused as I watched the the beginning of the first season before I saw any toy adverts. Thankfully Hasbro decided marketing a toy hand gun wasn't that bad in the end and got with the actual plot. Thanks for watching!

I know! I guess the UK was not sure if they were okay with Megatron being a gun so they just made the whole Soundwave being the leader thing up to sell a few toys until they had made up their minds about marketing a kind of realistic looking hand gun to kids. Thanks for watching!

That Terry's chocolate orange advert traumatised me as a kid. I was haunted by it. It's just absolutely crammed with sheer horror. Those sinister voices of the two women, that look of menace on the old chap's face, the suspenseful music. And not least the fact that he discovers the gateway to hell behind a cupboard.

It makes me happy that I brought happy memories back to you and I know what you mean about the world feeing real! These days I feel if you are of a certain age 40s to 50s you should take a step back as much as you can from the modern age and live a little retro it could just be as simple as not using the web or Wi - Fi when you can and sticking on a film from the 80s or 90s on a DVD or play a game on an old console. Thanks for watching and check out my channel if you want some more blasts from the past!
