Hi! Unfortunately we can't say when a treatment will come out, but that's why we are funding research into it.

Keratakonus is a very sad disease. We live with trying to deal with our deteriorating sight everyday..unlike people who are born blind we have the beauty and blessing to see at full hd, only to have it be slowly taken away from us. I try not to think about it, but the sudden change every other year makes it hard to try to accept that eventually you'll be blind. For my case it was self diagnosed. I rubbed my eyes so much in highschool due to OCD I lost the vision in my right side. And now only have 20/50 with corrected lenses. I know I'll go blind in the future, but I will create SO MUCH ART before I go blind that I'll have people wonder what I could a done had I been blessed with 20/20 vision..God bless you all, and I hope you get through this anxiety. All love

Hey lovely, it is a very sad condition, but please don't give up hope. Keratoconus will not result in complete blindness. I have been living with condition for 36 years, I haven't as yet had the transplant and no cross linking. The progression slows down around your 40s, I am an artist also working with the eyesight that I have. warmest wishes to you.

The exact same happened to a workmate of mine. He ran a bath and the tap water was a little bit brown to start with and cleared pretty soon but he thought this brown was rust from inside the pipes so he continued running his bath and got in and bathed. Later that evening his eye became ithcy , bloodshot. By next morning he was in so much pain he had to take the day off work and go to A&E where the Doctor told him" you have a parasite in your eye and it's went round the back of your eye and dug himself in. My workmate had to use eye drops every 2 hours to try entice the thing out and eventually it did come out after 4 days, but the poor fella was in agony those 4 days.

I'm almost 24 and been trying to do the Air Force for almost 5 years, Military was something I always wanted to do at the age of 5 now I most likely can't go that route because of Keratoconus and it bothers me every time I think about it.

Military service should still be possible, maybe just not combat duties. iI was conscripted in the early 80s - admittedly with undiagnosed KC. I went through full combat training and deployments with specs. Just remember, every role in the military is important, not just "Front Line" operations. Don't let KC hold you back !!!

I have Keratoconus and it is getting worse as the years go on. My only option is aggressive surgeries that cost a fortune that don't really even fix vision, it just stops it from getting worse. The quality of life is poor either way for someone with Keratoconus, you have to wear glass contacts that irritate the hell out of me and glasses at the same time, I choose not to because my eyes hurt more doing that. I just gave up honestly, no one cares about this disease, no one understands it. Not being able to pass a vision test in order to drive means ZERO freedom in life.

I have a very rare eye condition called choroideremia. I'm 52 now and I'm almost completely blind due to this life-changing disease. .. The remaining sight I have ( Completely blind in my right eye) in my left eye is like looking through a straw. I was turned away from gene therapy due to only being able to see out of my left eye and was informed that the only hope for me would be stem cell therapy. I understand due to the pandemic and the lack of funds research has been so to speak put on the back burner.Im looking into charity or fundraising or to do something to raise funds to further research and to possibly find a cure for this life-changing disease. if there is anything I can do to raise funds please let me know. Thank you.

Well yeah. I have congenital cataracts. My first ever surgery will be in 1 week. And I'm basically going blind. If I were not to treat it, that's the outcome. A person can live with blindness but ya vision does help in the day to day. 😅
