Great video Lyn! I love looking at your cacti collection. Very good tips, too. Unfortunately here, it is too hot right now to go outside. I have plant chores piling up and I’m making a mental list to do them in Fall. Haha. Sometimes I bring my soil bags indoors and repot in my kitchen. 😅

So happy you loved the video Ana :-D I can imagine how hot it must be in Vegas now, even in Ireland it gets so hot in the polytunnel when its sunny and I can only be in there for a minute without running out again haha, and Fall can be a much better time to get plant jobs done when the cacti start to slow down a bit more, thanks so much for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and CAFFEINE and PLANT POWER to Las Vegas from Hans and me for a wonderful new week XXXX <3

Hey I could use ur help, I have an 8 foot tall cows horn euphorbia, well my ceilings are also 8ft tall, is there a way to stop it from growing? How do I stop my plant from dying or tipping over???
@desertplantsofavalon15 сағат бұрын
Hi there, you can prune down your Euphorbia to keep it more compact and this will also encourage your Euphorbia to side shoot and will slow down the growth from the top, its best to wear gloves and protect your skin and eyes when pruning Euphorbias as they give off a milky white latex sap, I often spray the parts of Euphorbias I cut with a hand held water spray bottle as this helps to stop the white milky sap quicker, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful new week XXXX <3

@desertplantsofavalon thank u so much. So just take a bit off the top then, how much do u think? This won't kill the plant? I can callus and plant what I cut off too right?

Another awesome video, Lyn 😊 Always plant jobs that need doing. I've been busy this week watering, takes so long when you have so many plants lol. Glad the alcohol/soap solution is working well for you. Sone plants I have sprayed it on have suffered a bit of chemical burn, though. Some Echinopsis and Gymnos of mine have broke out in a few black blisters after spraying them, so just a heads up on that. Thank you for sharing with us as always, Lyn. Have a wonderful evening and weekend from Edith & myself to you & Hans ❤️🌵☀️🌺🌼🌸🏜

So happy you loved the plant jobs video Daz :-D and thanks so much for letting me know about the chemical burn with the soap and alcohol, I will be careful and keep an eye on it, haha yes it takes so long watering with all our plants, it takes me 4-5 hours of an evening now and better than a workout at the Gym haha, thanks so much Daz for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Edith lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to England and Singapore for a wonderful new week XXXX <3

Love your videos Lyn, would you recommend spraying with neem oil every month as a preventative? I've been very very very lucky I don't want to tempt fate. And how to prevent sun burn on mammillaria species, I have one and I put my cacti on my south facing deck and it gets sunburn every year, and it never does flower.
@desertplantsofavalon15 сағат бұрын
So happy you love my videos, yes Neem oil every 4-6 weeks is a brilliant way to prevent pests, its best to use the Neem oil in the evenings once the sun has gone down, some Mammillarias can be more sensitive to too much direct sun especially if they are moved from indoors to outdoors for summer, I would move your Mammillaria to a position where it gets either a few hours of early morning or late afternoon sun and avoid the midday sun between 11-3pm when the sun is strongest, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful new week XXXX <3

Wow, a beautiful video Lyn, thanks again for sharing. I noticed a 'paper spine' cactus at 2m50 and one with smallish pads at 6m49, can you tell me what they are please? I keep seeing what I presume is a Santa Rita with its beautiful colour - I planted some seeds and only 2 germinated, but I think it's my absolute favourite Opuntia due to its striking colour - which mine are yet to develop! I've recently attempted to germinate some Opuntia Macrocentra seeds which should also be striking, but alas it looks like they aren't germinating. Have a fantastic cactus weekend to you and Hans 🙂🌵💚
@desertplantsofavalon14 сағат бұрын
So happy you loved the Opuntia tour video Donald, they really are wacky and amazing cacti to grow, and the Santa Ritas are amazing with their beautiful deep plum coloured pads, and thats fantastic you have two seedlings of them you have grown from seed, the paper spine Opuntia at 2m 50 is a Tephrocactus articularis and the one at 6m 49 is unfortunately one I don't have the ID for, I know that Opuntia seeds can take many months to germinate, I have had seeds germinate a year after haha, and its very possible your Opuntia macrocentras will still germinate over the coming months, thanks so much Donald for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Spain from Hans and me for a wonderful new week XXXX <3

"No more plants." Does that stand alongside "If elected I promise to..." in the world's greatest fairy tales hahaha?!!! (apologies for bringing politics into it just before the UK general election). There is always room for more plants, although as I'm discovering there comes a time when they need to be fairly small ones. I just don't tell my better half that eventually they won't be quite so small, but I think this ruse is in the process of being found out this growing season. There are some beautiful plants here, it's a lovely chunky Chamaelobivia and I'm looking forward to seeing the Opuntia Monacantha get growing. A belated happy birthday and plant power to you and Hans 🙂🌵💚
