Absolutely, constant study is key. The desire to dismantle your process, technique, and look inside yourself , humble yourself before each and any artistic endeavor no matter how small, should be a huge part of what gives you joy and a reason for making art. Audience approval or becoming famous is certainly last on the list because sometimes that never comes.

Man the music completely ruins this interview clip.. Wow what a bad choice to add music to a video people are listening to to HEAR a specific response.

if you let some music get in the way of hearing wisdom that will push you to the next level, then unfortunately, you are exactly the type of lazy Vincent is speakin of. But if thats ya style 🤷🏽‍♂️ do you 👌🏼

@@MichaelCognata What an amazingly stupid thing to say. Not only did you screw up an interview with a truly great actor, seem to be proud of what you did.

I don't work for you. N neither does Vincent. What im proud of is the advice i learned from him, which I translated into a Career. How proud do you feel that you called someone you don't know "stupid" simply because you dont like the music choice? From the looks of it, you are too old for the KZfaq trolling game. Get your gems from the video, like I (and the rest of these great commenters) did and move on like the mature adult you appear to be.

I just found a movie on Netflix, shot in France, Corsica region I think, called 'Rogue City'. Exactly what I hoped for - great acting, acting that is so good in fact, that the terrible translation dubbing still doesn't really take away from it, if anything is a reminder of how important good acting is - it'll make the viewer forgive some bad production values. Better, there's none of the typical American formulaic film feel to it - it's why I like foreign films better in general - they are totally different from the way the vast majority of north American films are churned out, and have none of the 'diverse' and 'woke' bullshit permeating the casting and scriptwriting. The story and the acting is prioritized, and you can't see the director's hand at work. If you dropped Vincent D'Onofrio in the middle of one of these - instead of standing out, like he usually does - he'd fit right in. Based on what he says in this interview, he'd be ecstatic to be surrounded by so many actors who are really good at their craft. He'd be saying "I'm so glad you're alive, and that you're here" to so many more than he does. I've seen good actors work, and the difference is startling, if you're paying attention, and know what to look for.

what does it mean for something to be “union and non union” ? im looking at an audition right now and that’s how it’s labeled. im not in the union so i’m wondering if i can do it?
@MichaelCognata
@MichaelCognata 3 жыл бұрын
It's hard to say for your specific situation. But generally speaking, when you see a project is a Union project, that means it's been approved by SAG-AFTRA and has to follow specific guidelines for their project. Union projects are typically required to invite a few non union actors in to audition. If you were invited to audition, and they knew that you were Non-Union I'd say go ahead and Audition. If you really aren't sure, it wouldn't hurt to reach out to the production to ask them directly. Either way, congratulations on the audition! 🙌🏼

Haha you could, but that might result in a few non responses 😂. What I'm trying to say without fully stating is... Do what you gotta do 🤫 my friend wrote a short, filmed it, and used it as a credit for her resume starting out. That's a simple way, but there are plenty of creative workarounds, just get busy and it will build from there 👌🏽

New Age music is unnerving. Years ago someone suggested that I listen to it so I bought a cassette tape of New Age music and I became depressed listening to it. O replaced it by taking out of my radio's tape deck and put in some Miles Davis. I went from depression to total relaxation.

I remember reading an article about Vincent making a girl cry in one of his acting classes, by screaming at her and demeaning her. Telling her that she would never be as good as him. Apparently, he can be quite rude and big headed because he thinks he's all that. Disappointing to say the least.

He is so dead on he has just answered a question I have been wondering for the last 15 years why movies are not as good as they used to be a lack of really trained talented actors that's the difference between the actors of the golden and the post golden age of Hollywood and what's going on right now Vincent got it right this is why I don't think I'm interested in any TV shows that are on because I just sent some things off and what's off is that they don't know how to act well they can't keep my interest..

They're just there to be popular. They want to make fast money. There not into the actual craft of acting. Or telling a testimony, or Truth.

Great video! I am originally from Boston and have lived in New York for quite some time. I agree with you. Boston is a great place to start and take that experience with you. in my earlier twenties I did manage to get several unpaid modeling and extra gigs in NY but found much better luck in Boston especially when a bunch of production companies from LA or all over have flown out for the tax credit. I love Boston actors. We do have this type of solidarity that I have not seen anywhere else and I love it. A lot of the most artistically talented friends I have ever met were BAA alums. I went to Latin Academy and METCO. I kind of regret not auditioning for BAA because I was always into acting but that was light years ago. Great video, keep doing your thing!
