1:21:00 It was a 'body shot punch' that finished Josh Fremd. Not a body shot kick. Im not looking at it now. But, I watched it earlier this week, so I am pretty sure. Maybe a kick was in the combo but the final shot was a hard punch body shot.

And a shout-out to Korean John at The AllStar MMA. I watched an interview with Bassil Hafez. Hafez beat Mickey Gall 11 years ago in a grappling match. While Gall went on to the UFC, Bassil has been licking his chops, grinding on the regional scene. Saturday night, we will see if the oddsmakers have it right, with Bassil a -300 favorite (approximately). I think Bassil gets it done. Philly VS Jersey!
@sherdog2 күн бұрын
John is great! And it's worth noting that the UFC would *never* have signed Bassil Hafez to fight CM Punk. 30 seconds of the eyeball test would have been enough to let Dana know that this was not the guy to try and get Punk a winnable fight.

UFC Newark New Jersey! I was not sure about this main event, at first. After watching embedded and countdown... "WHAT IF"? and new! in the main event! One punch can shock the world if Poirer lands on Islams chin. (but I think Islam is too good) Talk about super-camps tho. wow. With that being said... tune into to ESPN+ 5 PM central Sat June 1st UFC Jersey (prelims)

I don't understand putting Holloway and Poirer in the same category as Gaethje. I mean, as exciting fighters, sure, but as human beings? When did Holloway or Poirer hang out with a murderous dictator? Maybe Max and Dustin have connections I am unaware of, but I sure hope not. Unrelated, but... 'potheads are known to crack hard' was very funny! Is Holloway fighting the heavyweight champ really that much less ridiculous then when I asked you guys if Randy Couture could still beat a UFC HW today (I asked years ago, 2020 maybe)? Oh right, now I remember... I think Keith said "Couture might be my favorite fighter, but... the guy just had a heart attack!" so yeah, I guess so... You can only compare fighters from different eras fairly by asking 'how far ahead of your contemporaries were they?' It's the best metric we have that doesn't favor the champion with more famous opponents (again, famous, not more skilled, which is actually far more important perception-wise). I wonder how both your feelings on the main event compare to how you felt about Bisping-Rockhold II? Oh hey, Ben just mentioned that fight as I typed that! I just have this funny feeling Dustin is going to win in similar fashion, with no logical reasoning behind it. Perhaps just a form of wishful thinking.

I think the Waterson-Gomez vs Robertson fight has been moved to the McGregor vs Chandler card because it's going to be Watersons retirement fight and she might have already told the UFC. Just a feeling I have... But brace yourselves because now I'm going to rant about heavyweight big time. The Almedia vs Romanov fight is stupid and obviously just being done to give Almeida a finish cos Romanov might actually get TKO'd by his own cholesterol if he comes in at 266lbs. Romanov should be fighting Karl Williams who is 3-0 in the UFC and needs testing against a strong grappler who he might not just be able to control for 15 mins. Almeida should be fighting someone like Spivak or Tybura. The heavyweight match ups have been stoopid at times. We have Mick Parkin fighting that human lasagna that is Brzeski just so he can get another decision win on home turf. Parkin should fight Tuivasa, either that way he gets a win over a dangerous fan favourite that boosts his stock or Tuivasa gets a knockout over an undefeated guy and saves his job so he can go back to fun fights and drinking beer out of shoes. Just my 2p worth there.

You may have a point! I joked about him looking like Assuncao and dos Anjos, but seriously I probably think of him as more washed than he really is just because he looks grizzled, and looks like other fighters who are or were seriously shot.

[ben] Thank you! And thanks in particular for that observation. There are a lot of preview shows out there, including some really good ones. Thoroughness is what we have going for us. I love that our audience keeps growing, but we're never going to be the most popular show. There just aren't a million people out there who want 8-12 minutes of analysis on the second prelim of a mediocre fight night, especially when that fight night is in the middle of a stretch of 14 straight weekends with a UFC event. But for the crazy people who do love this stuff that much...Shillan & Duffy is probably the show for you. Hope you like '80s wrestling references and Dad rock. :)

Thanks; we enjoy it too! We understand that not everyone is into the 80s pro wrestling talk or the running jokes, but the kind of people who want to hear a 10-minute breakdown of a frankly low-stakes Fight Night prelim are more likely to be down with it than the average fan. And for those sad souls who really, really don't want to hear us speculating about whether 6-foot-4 Paul Craig can dunk a basketball, or seeing how many Lynyrd Skynyrd song titles we can work into an episode, we do throw all of our picks on screen at the very end.

Dude seriously post dated... 1. 2 roddriguez fights in a row. Kleydson and then WMMA fighter Piera. 2. Dude seriously, the commentary on the opening bout of the night!! I dont mind Cruz or Felder and I am an easily entertained viewer. But STEP IT UP!!! Vanessa was bombing HUGE 'overhand-rights' from the very first seconds of the fight. Cruz and Felder were going on, talking about Ducote, while Vanessa had already landed 10 Overhand-rights. DUDE SERIOUSLY? 3. In some poetic justice and redemption... Dude seriously, that was hilarious when Abus was landing elbows and Felder compared it to the sounds of the 10 second clapper. HAHA, dude seriously. Some other cool points from the night...Good for Tamires Vidal. Her flying Knee body shot knock out (against Ramona Rascual) is the only flying knee knockout in womens UFC history, if I saw the stat right. Also, her opponent Gatto...was landing some nice strikes that were rare. It was in full mount from the top. And she was elbowing the tops of Vidals Shoulders. Those were cool strikes!
