The top surfaces should be sloped to shed water at not less than say, 10deg. Without it water will hang on the top and it will get green and slimey very quickly. Also, there needs to be a throat under the edges all around to prevent water backtracking to the pier where it will cause ugly staining running down the pier. I am surprised that the formwork was built effectively upside down as it was obviously difficult to tamp..

Hey Scott - just watched this - thats a proper tidy job - i got a quick question - we've had our patio done with porcelain tiles 800x800 - the boys did a great job and they look fantastic , we had 5 tiles left over and im wondering could i lay them over some patio patio steps so itll tie in with the next level ?
@tidybrickslandscaping5 күн бұрын
Yeh of course sounds like the right thing to do tie it all up as you say 👍🏴
@PhilM625 күн бұрын
@tidybrickslandscaping thanks for the reply fella - I'm looking at either spreading a SBR slurry over the existing patio steps ( they are cotswold slabs ) then spreading 20mm of sand cement spreading a layer of slurry on the bottom of the tile them leveling the tile or using a plastic support and doing away with the mortar - the steps are solid though I may have to trim the overhang with a grinder as I want to have the risers to fit flush to the step - I'm goin to have to make up a mix to attach the risers anyway so I'm not sure which will produce the best results
@tidybrickslandscaping5 күн бұрын

@tidybrickslandscaping thanks mate - we had the lower half of the patio done in 2021 and upper section is just levelled stone my missus stopped me having a go at that until the interior of the house is finished ( weve only been here since 1992 😆) I'm going to do a composite deck on the raised section and its only 2 steps that need to be covered - so I've been hard at work studying any KZfaq videos before I get stuck in - the problem is , is that you make it look so ridiculously easy - just waiting for this rain to sod off so I can have decent few days - that's typical South Wales for u but its been much worse than normal

Looking back, that last square tile at 9:00 Would you have cut that one tile just to take that line from the edging, back to the steps. Or was the design idea so when you are at the top step of the steps you can step forwards or right?

Hello Scott!! Saw both your videos, the 8 months post op and the one of before. My mother (64 now) had fractured her ankle due a twist injury. Subsequently, a surgery was performed to join the bone then. Turns out her cartilage too was damaged and she was told to live with it as long as she could bear. It has pained ever since, and now it pains a lot. So, it's time for surgery. We are based in India, and an ankle specialist doctor we saw here suggested ankle replacement or fusion. We were inclined towards replacement as that doesn't hinder ankle mobility. Would like to know what made you go for ankle fusion as against ankle replacement? Also, you mentioned that you'll get the screws removed after a few months. Heard you say in the video the gap would be filled with bone marrow. Would that bring back full mobility to your ankle? There might be more to ask, your guidance does help. Hope you don't mind sharing. Thanks for your videos, and wish you a speedy recovery and above all - ankle mobility to somehow return!!
@tidybrickslandscaping6 күн бұрын
I’m glad to help out in any way I can so as for the reason I had the fusion was apparently it would cure the arthritis so I agreed and gave the go ahead to operate I’m going to ring the hospital today about the removal of the screws so no new info on that.
