...and another one with a cropped tail... Weimaraner dogs are awesome - especially when intact.

Love this breed. My Wilheim is now 11 and starting to have weak back legs. He is my second weimaraner, so spent well over 20 years owned by one of these loving clowns. They are expert manipulators and both of our dogs have had us as their willing slaves. Beautiful inside and out. Loving wonderful souls.

I will never understand why people cut dogs ears and tails??? It is one of 1000 examples that US-Americans are everthing but not normal thinking humans ☝👎🤦‍♂️

Weimaraners (and most bird dogs) typically have their dew claws removed and their tails sport docked to protect the animal from injury during hunting or aggressive play and the dock allows them to more accurately point their prey. Doberman Pinchers have their ears pinned because it is said that it improves their ability to hear perpetrators and gives them a more intimidating look. I think that there are a handful of people that may continue to do a lot of these mods for more looks and aesthetics rather than function. Just as an FYI, a lot of these modifications began in Europe, not the United States. They would have continued in Europe, however a lot of countries in the EU have banned these modifications.

@@freddaniali Fred, thanks for your answer. And don't know if you believe or not, but I live 200 km away from the city of Weimar. The city of Goethe and Schiller and of the Weimeraner and of KZ Buchenwald too. In my childhood, we had 3 Schnauzers. The first had cut hears and tail, the second and third only tail and todays, if we would buy a puppy, it would be complete uncut. And it is the same for all dog breeds. I loved all my Schnauzers, but after the day I have seen how a vet did the cuts on the puppies, I have recognised the act of protection of animals is a good act. And the word modification is a cheap lie to hide the right words: intentional injury of a defenseless "person". I would never do this to a creature that should be my "best friend" ☝ And of course would be people in EU, which would cut ears and tails for nothing, if their wouldn't be and act against. In German we say: "Don't ask the frog to dry the lake" But Fred, my crucial point, on today times a Schnauzer is living with a family for a family dog and not for hunting rats. And a Weimeraner is a hunting dog only for aristocrats, but everyone outside of a monarchy can buy it and the peoples who buy the puppies are no hunters. So the world goes round and around. Most thinking people on planet earth have changes their minds by some aspects of human behaviour for..... If I see these videos of "honey bunny puppy huppy" I get angry that the videos show a lie. If cutting tails and ears are so harmless, why don't show puppy sellers these kind of videos from the vet??? No my friend - it is a thing of open mind and that thing is one of 1000 examples - if you want, I can write you 999 other examples why US-Americans are erverthing, but not normal thinking humans 😎

When I was young we had a male Weim his name was Michael. Took him on the boat and to islands off the west coast of Florida. He was part of the family. My Elderly grandmother had his brother Peter. Both were just like night and day. Mike was a grey while Peter was a charcoal. Pete was like a old man all his life. Calm and reserved, perfect 👌 for my grandmother 👵. He got to fat because she fed him to much. He was so happy. He knew my voice at the doors when I would come and visit. Now my family has a female, what a pistol!!! To smart for her own good. She will pull the leash out of my sons hand , then let it retract. Then pick it up and walk herself. She does not run away but comes back in carrying the handle of the leash in her mouth. Anything that even looks like a stuffed animal 🧸 or toy is fare game. She is one year old.

to ask the people commenting about her tail, most owners don't get an option of keeping the tail if their puppy is from a licensed breeder. The breeder docks the tails at about ten days old, before the pups have even opened their eyes. This is also a common practice with Australian shepherds and springer spaniels.

If you want to get a Weimaraner, you must know that it is a hunting breed and they can be truly happy only when hunt. They needs lots of excercise too. Try to go somewhere to hunt where some hunters have the Weimaraner and see how happy they are. It can not be replaced by anything. Good luck!

Sad to see that this pup was mutilated by having its tail mostly cut off. Totally barbaric and in true civilized countries, totally forbidden. Mine is 8 years old and has a complete tail. She looks SO much better.... When will people learn?
@ivanaludwigova7082
@ivanaludwigova7082 7 жыл бұрын
But the Weimaraner is a hunting breed... the short tail is the prevention of injury in the field when hunting. And EVERY Weimaraner love to hunt. I wouldn't be so "barbaric" to carry a Weimaraner who doesn't hunt.

they get there tail docked at such a young age they wont even remember it and its so that they dont break their tails during hunting, therefore they will not be in pain and then have to get it docked when it is older. Maybe you should do a bit more research before u comment shit like that!
