Is this the RACE mode? It doesn't look like career mode. Loved that spiral technique with the tethers. I also didn't realize that doors were worth more than the aluminum skeleton. That's wild!

Yo I got a question how'd you get so good at building and do you have any tips and tricks for building submarines??
@GophTheGreat
@GophTheGreat 7 ай бұрын
The first three submarines I built were just experiments to learn the building system. With the first one, my goal was to clone the Typhon2 just so I could learn everything basic. The goal for my second one was to learn wiring and experiment with lighting. I implemented auto-opening doors, periscopes that could be swapped between multiple viewports, and other things. My third ship, the Falcata, was the first one I was really proud of and the goal of that was to implement everything I learned, and also heavily style the ship. I color-tinted all the backgrounds, lights, and machines to give the ship the look of an old, aging vessel. I nearly hit the front panel of the workshop with it. After that came the Kaskara which hit 10,000+ downloads and is my most popular vessel (although I suspect it doesn't function correctly anymore due to game updates and maybe poor build practices on my part). My ships are made with gameplay and usability in mind. I want my ships to be readable and specially tuned for the crew count that I target, so that they're still somewhat challenging. I pay a lot of attention to lighting, the design of the alert panels and systems, and the coloration of all the machines to make sure the ship is visually interesting while still being clean and easy to "learn" as a player.

Hey, thanks for telling everyone how super cool and super awesome I am. 🥰I learned reverso tethers when wasting time trying to get big chunks in the furnace. I've since decided that the end husk isn't worth the time. I can just go spawn another ship and make $$$ at 10+ times the rate. Anything into the furnace seems a waste of time imo. Thanks in particular for showing the cockpit detach.

i need to stop watching these videos. everytime i do i feel more and more incompetent. takes me at least 3 shifts to get a ship done. i know it is all about rinse and repeat as soon as you know how to do it quick but idk iam just going in ...chilling in the game and plucking the ship like a flower piece by piece. great video.

I haven't refined my run this much yet but you have proven to me that a lot of my ideas for how to speed stuff up is not only possible but also better. I am afraid to use the slicer cutter the way you do as it tends to result in a lot of collateral damage. I don't know if they updated this to encourage using the precision laser more or if I'm just not using it right.

I mean this video is old as heck. If you want something more current there are a ton more videos on my channel, but I also stopped those shortly after the game hit 1.0. The general principles are still very much in-play though.

Probably could have saved some time by not removing the panels from the interiors of the airlocks, as they both go into the barge.
@GophTheGreat
@GophTheGreat Жыл бұрын
This was recorded on a very early version of the game where the barge was a simple 2D grid and each grid square could only accept exactly one bargeable item. If I had tried to send the airlock and panel down together, it's possible that only one of those will have properly counted.

New to the game here. Is there a reason you took the panels out of the airlock before sending both to the airlock (12:50)? I would think you'd just send the airlock with the panel still in it right? Or does the panel not count unless you remove it from the airlock?
@GophTheGreat

This is from a very old version of the game where the barge was a 2- dimensional grid, and each grid slot could only accept exactly one barge item.

You can see my salvage total increase whenever I get them and they're reported on the end screen. They're too small to trigger the salvage popup (it has a mass-based floor for triggering) but they count regardless.
