does anyone know how i can tell the difference between the CVPI engine and civilian? my 05 CVPI probably needs a new engine and I don't want to put the civilian engine in.

I prefer and own the civilian model. It has more luxury. It gets better fuel economy. Yes, the police model is a tiny bit faster but that's irrelevant if you plan to drive on public roads and drive around the speed limit. Both are fast enough but I am buying the gas now. I am grown up, and not really interested in playing cop.

I just got 2014 Taurus police interceptor last will for $2300 with 140000 miles on it at auction. No issues, no engine light. Everything was well kept. Took it in for inspection and everything was good according to the mechanic. Just did oil change and bought brand new tires. Went to junk yard and brought rear seats and rear door panels for $65. Best investment ever... Engine is so powerful.
