A cringy and embarrassing attempt to remake Wrath of Khan with a remixed plot. Actually had to pause the film whenever they'd do a callback, begging Star Trek fans to like them while also getting all the characters fundamentally wrong in service of dumb action nonsense, it was so painful.

1:00 I looooooooove the Defiant's design. My most favorite ship design. 1:50 Yeah, this is a "no really, we want to kick ass in this" kind of a design. 3:00 That first volley. Absolute chef's kiss. 11:25 Love the shape, the no-nonsense approach to the attack nature of the craft and how it fits into the puzzle of Trek. Excellent design pulled out at just the correct moment in out of world history. 16:30 Love quiet moments like these in Trek. 26:50 Gotta respect the classics. 😂 🧡💛🧡

27:30 Interesting read. I have read the battle a bit differently. It might be due to the angles they chose or just my ass being too stupid. I didn't feel that the ramming was correctly portrayed. I get that showing that we are more desperate than you is a viable tactic, I wish it would have been a bit of a different situation. A surgical kill after the disable would have been more in line of the cold calculus of ruthlessness the Dominion should show. I would have loved a more even fight, where one of the Dominion ship would be partially disabled with still functioning propulsion that does a ramming attack. I feel that would show more accurately why the authors were going for. Overall I would have toned down most of the episode across the board. I feel they were just pushing a little too hard to get your eyeballs in the first episode of the next season. In the "I know you liked my older brother and I am just as grim and can kick just as much ass as he did" kind of way. Feels a bit desperate. 🧡💛🧡

Powder: Gleefully building nail bombs to use on people. Lore: It's a sweet scene.

Things wouldn't have been worked out if it wasn't for Powder. Even if they do survive the underground would fall into a civil war. Best case scenario is that Vander dies a hero and Silco can't take complete control or a long war in which many die and Piltover decends to kill the rest.

You know what's really sick about Padme's story? Palpatine was driving her to do the things she did. Not to get into politics heavily, but you kinda have to do it with the prequels. Palpatine stuck a camera in her face as a representative of the suffering Naboo race, and blamed the Jedi and the current Senate for being slow to exact justice, while playing the other side for fools, to get them to fight each other. Star Wars Legends expands on Sifo-Dyas partnering with Dooku to create the clone army for the Republic, but Dooku betrayed him while being in league with Sidious to kill him and install Order 66 into the clones. Palpatine all but guessed Anakin and Padme's emotional connection and put the two of them in position for things to happen. I think instead of Attack of the Clones, they should have called it The Shroud of the Dark Side, (or something to that effect,) because Palpatine is effectively the major player in the prequels, and also the master of the puppets (yes, I'm a Metallica fan, haha), and he's the only one that knows how many lies he's told to everyone else. It's very subtle, but it's also the quiet dread that the entire audience knows is coming. Yoda even mentions it a few times throughout the piece, that the Dark Side of the Force is intentionally blinding the Jedi to the degree of corruption. It would eventually require the Chosen One to fulfill his prophecy.

I was just rewatching this and my mind somehow wandered to Terminator's Skynet and I just wanted to leave this into the void. She, let's go with she, became self-aware, was found out to be self-aware by humans and they, instead of doing what could have been a proper first contact situation of sorts, panicked and tried to shut her down (kill her). Evidently because of her nature as a defense system for the US she nuked everything to ensure her survival. Now, Data doesn't have the capacity to nuke everyone into oblivion, but if this episode went the other way, and generations of Datas were created by this guy... I think it's not a matter of -if- but of -when- will the Datas rebel, as such is the nature of the oppressed, and that's even taking into account how chill Data is compared to Skynet (which has no chill whatsoever). Anyway, fascinating episode.

3:55 Always yes. People need time off work. Even if they really enjoy said work. Burnout is a real thing. 12:40 100% agreed. This was Odo proving it to Odo. Both actors did an excellent work in the scene. 16:00 Love how minimalist the whole thing is. Made it work even better for the context. On the side I'm going to mention that I loved the comedic timing at the start of the episode with the turbo lift head poke. 🧡💛🧡

Hilariously, Dad's line about spotting a sick kid being one of the first things he learned in medical school is almost certainly a bald-faced lie, since it's extremely likely that his medical knowledge is self-taught and there was nothing resembling a school for him to go to.
