1979…the first of a series of 4 consecutive wins by the renowned Shekhar Mehta. It was held during Easter holidays hence the long-rains season. Add the fact that it involved ‘night’ driving on non-urban roads…wild adventure!!! Memories😊

I'm really enjoying this build series. Good timing too because I want to do something about the fuel system in my '63. Its got a fuel cell with an external Bosch 044 pump but I'm thinking of modifying a stock tank and moving the pump into the tank to tidy it up and hopefully make the pump a bit quieter.

Ambient noise makes it hard to hear the voice over. Turn it down, or even off at points. The wind noise on the mic, for example.

The work you're doing here is very cool, and I'm excited to see a second episode. But please consider dialing down the "homage to Project Binky" aspect. You're trying SO hard to look and sound like BOM, and you're not them. Confidently be yourself, stop stealing their phrases and jokes, do your own thing - people will still watch it, because it's a cool project and you have your own personalities, cloning Binky is just a crutch that you don't need.

Definitely see the project Binky influence, and I wish you luck, but the production quality makes it _almost_ unwatchable at this point. I say almost because I watched most of it. Work on your videography skills and you'll have a winner.

Rutland cement is not designed to withstand forge temperatures. Granted, you aren’t using a real burner and it won’t get really hot, but, that stuff will just crack and spall at forge temps. If you are really unlucky it will explode. On top of that, it has very low thermal insulation ability. You would have had much more success using a castable refractory like kastolite 30, greencast, or bubble alumina. Or, you could have used ceramic wool like inswool and rigidized it with fumed silica or coat it with itc-100.

Rutland or portland? I know the portland cement is out right dangerous. I have found that with the low thermal insulation i probably should have added some perlite. I had major issues trying to find proper castable refractory in Australia, so ended up just using the fire clay and sand method. In the future if i do another one ill look for something both available and better suited to hotter temperatures.

Pickstock Racing Fabrication Rutland event it only designed as a mortar for furnaces and fireplaces. It isn’t designed for direct flame impingement. It might survive with just a propane torch. Still, you had the brass head stuck into the forge. That would melt before steel got hot enough to forge. Look up kast-o-lite 30 to see the difference. It is designed for 3000 degrees. Your method would have worked well with it. Ceramic wool is much more efficient though, and would allow the little propane torch to get the forge much hotter.

Pickstock Racing Fabrication I forgot to add: go to iforgeiron.com and ask for supplies in Australia. We have a number of active members from down under who could point you in the right direction. I know they do have a hard time sourcing refractory cement but they do get ceramic wool. You can get cut off pieces from an HVAC company. They throw out their scraps that would suit your forge nicely.
