Nice reaction, from a person, who's (presumably) been throu ... more or less of those situs @ battlefield. Kudos ... !. As a FINNJÄVEL ,🙂this swedish version of this marvellous piece of Sabaton's production is closer to me, than an english version ... 'cause the swedish was the 1st foreing language (mandatory), which we had to learn @ school (from 7th to 9th grade). And yes .... I had forgotten most of the vocabulary and grammar, until i opened the swedish lyrics and sang along this piece. To me, it's a kind of a sad story, told by a young boy's (15-18 yrs) perspective, who propably? was an orphan (diseases and famine), or was given a way to a foster parents as a young child (that btw, was a very common thing, back in those days). ... "Men, vem saknar mig?" = But, who's going to miss me?. And "Men, vem sörger mig" = But, who's going to mourn me????. This song, if possible, is the most emotionally touching piece of all what Sabaton has made so far. Finally.... a word from finnish veterans mouth of yrs. 1939-1945 ... "Kaveria ei jätetä" = "Leave No Man Behind". Applied, not only in a battlefield ... it did continue during a peace time aswell. The band of brothers is for a lifetime, 'till the last roll call. All the best, from 🇫🇮.

Disable vet here. TACP 2002-2009. We hit an IED on patrol in Afghanistan. 6 killed me and one other injured in 2007. I understand what this is like to have people by your side and gone the next minute. Death in war never leaves the heart of those who have experienced it, and songs like this will make every vet cry because they know someone who was killed. Bless you brother and every vet dealing with the issues of war. May we all find peace one day.

6:29 The woman was dead, brought back to the village, and prepared for burial. In harsh Siberian Winter the ground would be hard as concrete, so they would leave the body in the cold to “preserve” it until they could properly perform the burial rites. In the lyrics you can read she’s praying to her God, He answers (the dead woman’s arm raises and catches the horn, then her eyes open), and (in my interpretation/opinion) the throat singing is their God (Tengri in this case) greeting her and welcoming her back. That’s how I see it

The most gut-wrenching part of the line "and now there's nobody remembers our names" is that in some cases it was very literal within just a few decades. The "Pals Battalions" being massacred at the Somme literally destroyed entire communities, like Lemmy said. That was largely it for the men of an entire generation, and within a few decades you'd have entire family lines that completely disappeared as a consequence. For all too many of them, no one remembered their names because there was simply no one left who knew they ever existed.

Thanks for reacting to Sabaton's tribute to Audie Murphy and other soldiers with PTS. Yes, the guitar solo by Chris Rörland is mezmerizing. Audie's son heard about the song, and liked it so much that he attended a concert and met the band. If you get a chance, read Audie's book To Hell and Back. Audie locked himself in a hotel room for 5 to 6 days to get of the pills, and he did. That's what Sabaton's video is about. Audie wrote the book with another author, a friend, but so much of the writing is Audie. During the war, he began writing poetry (in his book, he attributes this to another soldier, but Audie was the poet/writer). Audie heard from another soldier of an older soldier saying that hell is 6 feet deep. Audie was impressed with this image, and worked it into his poem "The Crosses Grow at Anzio." It's really something to see Sabaton play this song, frequently as the last song of their concerts. It was strange to see huge European audiences sing along with this song, know about Audie, while many in the US don't know about him. In the film, Audie plays himself, really hard to replay a scene that you've lived in war. The film includes the famous event of Audie and his command encountering a hundred of more German soldiers and six tanks. Audie's two tank destroyers were both rendered unable to move, one on fire. Audie sent hi men back, and stayed alone, calling in artillery strikes. When the artillery asked over the phone how close the soldiers were, Audie said Just hold on and I'll let you talk to one of the bast ards. He then got on the burning tank destroyer, found the machine gun to be working fine, and starting shooting German soldiers. The tanks and Germans retreated, mostly because they couldn't figure out where the machine gun fire was coming from, due to the atillery smoke, and no one thought anyone would be crazy enough to be on the burning tank. If you get a chance, look at the simple but well-kept memorial that the French put up in honor of Audie and the other soldiers who freed Holtzwihr, France, from the Germans.

Really great reaction, Thank You! This song, and the other Sabaton songs and History Channel about Queen Christina intrigued me, so I did more reading (Starting with Wikipedia). I didn't realize the history of New Sweden in the American colonies. In the middle of this war, in about 1638, settlers were starting New Sweden, on the Delaware River. My dates are sketchy, but Gustavus Adolphus died in 1638, leaving his little daughter as "King" then "Queen Christina." Though her father died fighting Catholics, ironically Christina abdicated her throne in 1654, to become Catholic. There's a film Queen Christina, with Greta Garbo. It's historic fiction, but the palace scenes are cool, with Garbo as Queen, steering the country towards the end of the war, the Peace of Westphalia in 1648.

Sabaton Concert in Houston, Texas 10/1/22 : This is a smaller venue, and shows Sabaton with the same incredible energy, plus it shows the short video dedicated to the WW1 Dough Boys. Thanks for your great reaction for this 2012 Woodstock! As far as feedback, I never ever noticed it. And in this concert, I think Sabaton, Joakim Brodén and Pär Sundström had just found 3 new musicians: Robin Beck on drums, Thobbe Englund, and Chris Chris Rörland on guitars, and the energy of the band just ignited.
