Hi! I would never use tape or any of the plastic hanging hooks that attach on the wall with adhesive. Always use a artist hook and nail. It's the most secure way. It will never fall. If you have any questions please let me know.

What lovely artwork! I saw an artist using Giclee printing to reproduce her artwork and it looked so much like the original because it showed all the texture of the brushstrokes as well as the colours. Made it possible for her to sell reproductions of her small paintings rather than only the original. She said she paid for her artwork to be scanned but she said the first two sales paid for all the setup costs like framing scanning and printing

Hi! Is applying a final layer of oil ground on top of the gesso a good idea? Contemplating it at the moment, please let me know if you have any knowledge/advice on it :)
@slaughtered777

Thank you very much for the quick reply my friend!! Yes, will definitely take care in giving it time to dry! Usually I apply 4-5 coats of acrylic gesso only, giving a day or 2 to dry between layers. And that was exactly what I was hoping regarding the Size and Oil Grounds! I don't have any PVA size but I was fairly confident that acrylic is a good binder for the Oil! Phew, I'm glad you've helped me clear any lingering doubts about that. I haven't painted on OGs before and it was about time I did that :D Also I do have another question! Regarding a completely different acrylic painting - is it ok to paint oils on top of dried acrylic using that as kind of a base layer? Any thing I should watch out for? Cheers!!@@samsiegel4232

Why are the trees so dark before applying the color?
@Sams-Original-Art
@Sams-Original-Art 10 ай бұрын
Hi! I like to first map out the composition of the painting in only neutral tones. Black and white, or brown earthy colours. This helps simplify the process by first figuring out the shapes, shadows and light source. After that dries I then figure out the colours I want to use.

They are original oils on Arches Oil Paper. A specific paper that can be used with oils, otherwise you would need to prime other papers with gesso. :)

Wow very nice painting sam.i like you style painting in oil painting. I want to be ask one question oil colour can mix with sun flower oil and can varnish painting with linseed oil ?
@Sams-Original-Art
@Sams-Original-Art 10 ай бұрын
Hello! Thank you for reaching out and for showing interest in my work. I've personally never used sunflower oil. I did a quick Google search and it says "It is not recommended as Sunflower Oil interferes with drying and can be prone to color. The preferred drying oils are Cold-pressed Linseed Oil and Poppyseed Oil. These do the job while remaining clear with minimal yellowing over time." If I'm going to mix anything to the oil paint it's either Cold-pressed Linseed Oil, Liquin, or OMS (odorless mineral spirits). In terms of a varnish you can do an "oiling out' technique which is a diluted mixture of OMS and linseed oil. But for an actual varnish I use Gamvar by Gamblin. I would watch some KZfaq tutorials on both so you can see how they impact the painting. Cheers!
