I went to see an orthopedist doctor about these. I was gonna check for my legs and spine. I said I think I have o legs and that's why I'm here and I also think I have kypho- Well, he interrupted my speaking and said "what's your complaint?", I said my knees hurt sometimes and- he said again more loudly this time "What's your complaint? I said when I walk I tend to walk pressing outside of my soles. He sent me to xray and came back with the results and he said "yes you were right you have slightly o-legs but we can't operate you since you don't have knee arthrisis or 40years old and exercise doesn't work for that". Then he said "next patient!" and I had to get out. Do I need to have a complaint about anything to see a doctor? Do I not have any right to see if I'm okey or not, just to be sure? I'm shocked, I went to medic school and did my internship with an orthopedist for months but I'm not an orthopedist so I need someone to check. I still didn't get a chance to check if I have kyphosis or not which I'm really sure I have after watching your video. How am I supposed to heal, correct myself or at least learn about it? In my country, the earliest appointment for medical examination usually is at least 1 month later. And I don't think I will even try to get one.

Sorry to hear about that experience. It shouldn't be that way. I believe you should be able to ask and get checked out for a potential problem. Then you can address it proactively. If you had a fusion, then you can't change the size of the curve where it is fused. If there is a curve above or below the fusion, you can definitely work on those. You just need to be careful of the segments just above and below the fusion. Work with a trained Schroth therapist to do this.

this wont work for kyhosis extension flares it up. people should know this so we dont get hurt. Kyphosis is different then someone fixing bad posture.
@AlignTherapyUtah
@AlignTherapyUtah 3 күн бұрын
I would have to disagree. The way to work with kyphosis is to fo extension. That is the only way to reduce the flexed spine. But, you are correct that it has to be done correctly to avoid arching the low back. Kyphosis can be either functional or structural and poor posture is the functional kind. Structural kuphosis needs more specific treatment but the underlying problem is the flexion, so extension needs to be included, but controlled.
@Spidermonkeys29
@Spidermonkeys29 2 күн бұрын
@@AlignTherapyUtah I dont have posture kyphosis i have structural kyphosis. for someone with structural kyphosis even standing up straight causes pain. when you have structural you have limitations. @AlignTherapyUtah
@AlignTherapyUtah 2 күн бұрын
@@Spidermonkeys29 sorry to hear that. It has to be gradual but if you stay in flexion (i.e. kyphosis) then it reinforces it. To improve it, you have to work against it. My MRI results state “Gentle levoconvex bowing of the thoracic spine.” What exactly does this mean? I’ve been experiencing pain near my right shoulder blade and also part of my sternum on the right side protrudes a little. But I’m not sure if all of this is connected. I had an x-ray done as well and they said that was normal. But originally they weren’t looking at my spine, just the sternum. But on the MRI, it mentions the whole levoconvex situation.

Have you encountered times that it didn't work out with your patients, if so please explain the downsides/consequences experienced. @@education7281 over 35 it doesn't usually go as smooth. Definitely have have a good outcome but recovery is harder. The reason I dont recommend the operation until they get to 45 is there are complications I have seen like infections, hardware issues, etc that I would like to avoid if possible. Also, surgery isn't indicated until 45 degrees anyway. The research is not showing as much need before that to limit progression. Most surgeons I know don't even consider it till 45 in kids. If they suggest it at lower than that, I would be wary.

"over 35 it doesn't usually go as smooth. Definitely have have a good outcome but recovery is harder. " Could you explain in what you mean not as smooth for surgeries over age 35? Do you mean that they dont resolve their pain and discomfort as well? Also with the surgicsl complications you see with your patients like harware issues, neurologic issues and infections, do they often resolve after pt or revision surgery or is the patient just left worse off than had they not had surgery? If surgeries are only presribed to patients over 45 deg due to a probability of a low risk of complications, but how about those with pain/discomfort and sitting tolerance and fatigue issues with their scoliosis? Cant they have surgery to address those issues alone even if their curves are not large enough knowing there is no correlation between curve size and pain
