Have you tried the Korua Pin Tonic (164) in ultra deep days? I mean when an Optimistic stalls after ten meters? And it has camber, and stability in every condition. And its nimble enough in thight forests. I wish it were a bit more lively... any other recommendations that have camber but float good (I consider the Optimistic not good)? Thanks

Good review. I tried this board alongside the Orca and Gremlin as well. I found it kind of in the middle. The Orca is surfier and the Gremlin is a better bomber. I found the DH to be a good compromise between the two of playfulness and stability. This to me is a great choice for smaller midwest hills where you want to do a little of everything but you're not specializing in one thing.

Comparison between flagship and freecarver 9k? Both seem somewhat geared similarly
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 2 күн бұрын
The Freecarver 9000s is absolutely nothing like the Flagship. The only thing they share is a similar sidecut radius. The Flagship rides much narrower for it's size, longer and has a mellow camber between the feet. The 9000s has a massive bow of camber, all effective edge and a little nub for a nose and tail. It's made to do one thing. Carve exceptionally well. The Flagship is a daily driver that does a lot of things well.

Not really like any Korua board. Not like the Pencil at all. Maybe closer to the Cafe Racer and Transition Finder but still so massively different. They don't make a pure carving boards like this. They make boards that can carve and float in pow. This can just carve, is much softer, has much less taper, massively more camber and a massively longer effective edge.

Rode this all season last year and it's my favorite board in the Mervin lineup. The shape and flex make for a board that floats perfectly in pow and smashes through the ruts on the second half of the day without tiring you out. It's easy to load up and the pop will send you. It also straight lines and handles firm and icy conditions just fine. If someone was to make a board with the premise of being optimized for all conditions while being surfy and fun to ride, this is it. Placed in a Venn diagram this board sits directly where all attributes overlap, and your knees will thank you for that.

Pin Tonic or Giant Mantaray? You can only chose one.

I'm not you so my choice won't help you. Since I know nothing about you it would be a wild ass guess. Go Pintonic if you like a longer stiffer faster board that floats better in powder. Go Giant Mantaray if you like a more mellow/easier turning board that has a super fast base. If you want to do this right hit me here shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/
