Rear view mirror is my favourite thing in PC version. And list of cars in take a ride, of course. Thunderbird and San Francisco, what a great combination. Too bad they didn't port Driver 2. The first game works good on ps1 but the second one is too big and ambitious for a weak ps1 hardware (at the time).

9:57 If that detail is true, then is mind-blowing! Personally, I never noticed that detail. Maybe because in my playthroughs I wasn't looking for a specific color (Driver is the only car game which makes me NOT care about the color of my car, weird) Congratulations on your first Driver 2 video, man! It is true. Reflections wrote code that will swap the color of the car if it tries loading in the same color as you with the same model. This was done to help make the player car feel more unique than traffic.

Hey you’re using my texture mod. This does change some of the colors of some cars. The more i look at the back of the Vegas SUV the more I don’t like it. I’m probably going to change it back. Also the appveyor build for REDRIVER 2 has more features than the other one. Such as high quality font and light poles illuminate their surroundings when on.

The car01 the one being used in car chases, if you hit him hard enought, he will stop driving, just like the driver 1 traffic cars.

1:38 - the first car from the left kinda reminds me of the Oceanic from GTA: Vice City, especially it's rear section 😎. P.S. Did you install the texture mod? Because I don't remember that white section on the bottom of the taillights.

some fixes to this, as i know a looooot about the civ cars. 1. sometimes they won't survive a collision (mostly from the front, and at lights) and will stop driving but are still running, can be pushed all over the place 2. parked cars that start up and drive off are always driverless/empty and have no engine sounds, like a ghost, until they reach an intersection 3. if you stay too long near certain civ cars (that are driving) with cops around, these cars will turn into zombies and crash into anything in their way, and won't react to honking. this is something only i know <3 lmao

I get that on a technical level that the PC version is better looking, but there's a grain and grit to the PlayStation version that gives it a whole vibe that is missing from PC which feels a little flat and soulless. Strong case for atmosphere over fidelity.

Another benefit of the PC version is 8 bit palletised textures, which give certain textures an animation. Check PC gaming wiki on how to enable them.

You cant really blame any graphical or any animation downgrade on the PS1 version because it makes sense due to its hardware limitations, even the fast code cheat is unavailable mainly because the ps1 isnt capable of keeping up with the fast forward and memory stream at that rate

what I don't understand is that I had a ps1 disc of driver, but when I used it with a PC, it was compatible. I had psi graphics on a PC. Makes sense? (childhood memory) lol.

For me, the only thing that really bothers me of the PC version is the soundtrack. Wish we could have the dynamic calm/chase music system, with the amazing tracks composed by Allister Brimble

First time i played driver was on ps1, and first car looks great. But when i found out that pc has driver too, because first car looks ugly - i didnt even wanted to try it out

There’s a new widescreen patch that came out back in May. It looks amazing. It’s made by AuToMaNiAk005. To get it to work though you’ll have to save the config while it says it errored. To do this test until it says the config is ok then set it to the patch resolution then test. It will say error but it will let you save still.
