I’m am so impressed with my pair I got from you! Crazy, intelligent I think you can just tell!! The male was truely calm right after shipping Just moving him to his enclosure he sat with me for awhile checked me out and I set up a 40 gallon for now but it seems like a mansion to them so many places to go and hide…so on day one they are just right out in the open basking and I have like two of everyhide at the least my tank is full an chose to lay out In the open! My jeweled Lacerta was my favorite species of all to keep I think but this one is so fun already! You can tell they have been handled a lot already and used to people I love that! I have a reptile room as well so I might try out that way of incubating if I get lucky! I’m impressed 100% with the whole deal! You can tell they are very intelligent!!

I have a 36x18x36 tall exoterra, and am really considering a single carpet for the first time ever. My concern is air flow in said glass terrarium. How would one remedy such an obstacle as to prevent stale air? Thank you for this video, btw. Keep up the awesome work!!
@LivingArtbyFrankPayne3 ай бұрын
exo terra glass terrariums are perfect for carpet chameleons. Due to the vent in the front lower portion and full screen top the chimney effect of air circulation occurs naturally. Thank you!
@torIIgo3 ай бұрын
@LivingArtbyFrankPayne Really? I always assumed that one would need a small fan in front of the vent to further help aid in air circulation, but this helps alot! And yes, when I'm good, ready and have done more homework, I'll be beyond ecstatic to finally own a true chameleon species that is just right for me. A year or two down the road in the future, breeding may cross my mind, and I will have plenty of time and opportunity to prep for a responsibility as that, especially with big influences and keepers such as you, Chameleon Academy and many others!
@torIIgo2 ай бұрын
@LivingArtbyFrankPayne I just remembered a follow-up question (sorry if I haven't mentioned it with my previous one)- Since I live in South Texas, my room is, for the most part, dry. Hence, I kept my Cuban False Chameleons like true chameleons to get some perspective on humidity needs. For the most part, my current animals are doing very well, and even breed for me, and they really LOVE their snails after it rains! Anyway, being in the area that I live in, if you had to recommend anything, how often would misting be for future Carpets, and would I also need a fogger for nights? Also, what length of time for misters and/fogger would need to be set (again, as you put, depending on the seasons)? Also, sorry for the long questions, not really good at encapsulating words much.😅

How would i go about purchasing one. We have a nice cage that we had a chameleon in but glass on back and rest screen with water sprayer and fogger and lights like yourss would this be ok ? Also what is the safest way to clean enclosures for next lizard to come into.

Great video! Do you have hatchlings of both sexes? My friend does incubation at constant temps and only gets males. He tried several different temperatures from 82 to 90. What about the egg mortality? Maybe the day-night cycle is the key... I would really appreciate your answer, thanks!
@LivingArtbyFrankPayne3 ай бұрын
I incubate at a constant temp of 85 at this point and get a nice even ratio of the sexes. Egg and hatchling mortality is very low, maybe 10%.
@NobleSerpents3 ай бұрын
@@LivingArtbyFrankPayne Thank you very much for your answer. This is what I would expect. It is weird he gets only males and has high egg mortality rates. His incubator is also good quality without fluctuations, has no problems incubating other species. Just weird, might be problem of the adults then. Was hoping to give him some answers since he does not speak English.. but more mysteries, yay! Once again, this video is an amazing information source, thank you for it :)

I haven't noticed this.

@@LivingArtbyFrankPayne my male shows som cloudiness on his left eye when I saw him after some time in brumation mode. But it can also be a trauma to the eye after he ate a dubia in his underground cave and shaked his head in the side of the cave. Just the middle over the black pupil that has a slight bluish tint. Consulted with my rep vet and he said that this is normal and should clear up on it's own when he get out of brumation and his immune system is strong again. Will keep an eye on it.

I know I’m writing down this comment a bit too late based on the publishing date of this video but through all the research I’m doing about this reptiles’ husbandry i think this is the best detailed video i’ve found so far. I’ve got one question about keeping them together. You said you recommend to keep one male and two females per enclosure at most but,since i don’t want to breed them (because of cites conditions) is it good to keep just a single male in an enclosure or it would suffer from ‘being alone’ and not socialising with others?
@LivingArtbyFrankPayne7 ай бұрын
Thank you! Keeping one male alone is fine.
