Similar, but not exactly the same. The Camry has parking brake shoes for the parking brake which is different from this Corolla. The concept remains the same though for replacement.

Cars are becoming more complicated in this day and age so it's no longer a simple task to do such things even for maintenance. You can get a cheap scan tool off of Amazon for probably under 300 or 200 dollars that is capable of reading the transmission fluid temperature. If anyone is working on cars the proper and correct tools must be used for certain jobs. It's just the way it is now if one wants to do things properly.

I have a few questions. First, there's an auxiliary drain plug located on the bottom of the block. Is it necessary to open that up to get a more thorough drainage? Second, what are your thoughts on flushing the coolant lines out with regular water before refilling it with new coolant? Third, I remember flushing the cooling system of my old '95 Ford Contour and I had to replace the thermostat because for some reason, exposing a used thermostat to open air caused it to become permanently stuck in the closed position. In fact, that happened more than once. Is that normal?

The amount of sheer stupidity that the manufacturer's do to disable something or to keep something on. They want to continue doing things like this because they don't want the customer's to work on their own car they want you to take it to the dealer. It could have been simple like holding the gas pedal down to keep the engine running like on Toyota vehicles.

Hey thanks for the video! I tried an OEM tools coolant funnel but it didn’t fit. So I went and bought the Lisle one you listed in your description, but none of the radiator cap adapters fit either. Any insight? Everything I find online seems to be the same rebranded product I already have (twice). My car is a 2012 Corolla 2zrfe Thanks!
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair 4 күн бұрын
Yeah, I had some trouble with the Lisle one a little bit, they fit, but it is a tight fit. You just have to be careful when you install the adapter on to the radiator and making sure not to damage the plastic housing on the radiator neck. For many years I've been using the Mac Tools one with the solid opaque yellow funnel with the adapters kit. But the Lisle one works just as good as well. Try again and see if it fits. It takes some patience to install them on and they can be tricky sometimes you need to have them installed at the right angle and spot to turn, twist and lock into place. The one for the Corolla usually uses adapter C so try that and see if it works.

Thanks for this. There is no bleeder plug on the R rear side of my 9th gen, and this confirms it got scavenged somewhere across the 305k miles during a maintenance pit stop when I traveled the US for work. Now that I'm "off the road" and can do maintenance on it, I'm discovering multiple botch jobs and scavenge swaps to rob the OEM, like the drivers window register (~$330+) and the discard of the door card vapor barrier. No wonder the door check rusted out! So it's a run to the dealer for a 47547-06010 bleeder plug & the 31478-30010 bleed cap. Thanks again.

The Honda Accord computer instructs the driver as to the % oil life....and I had 5% remaining engine oil life at 10,000 miles on the oil. So, do you feel that you know more than the engineers who designed the Accord?
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair 11 күн бұрын
Yes, I do know more or better than the engineers because I work on the vehicles regularly while they do not. I have seen a lot of engine failures and problems over the years. Engineers do not care about the owners, they care for what's best for the environment and for their pocket. The oil life monitor is just a gimmick and is not accurate at all. Sure, the oil can go that long, but I wouldn't personally go that long between oil changes especially extended oil change intervals. This is not good for long term longevity. Expect to have engine problems by then. Things like this is not good for timing chains, etc. as they will stretch and cause problems earlier than expected. It's just a false economy for what the manufacturers and engineers are doing. Oil is cheap, engines are not. The oil filter itself is not designed to go that long either unless you have an oil filter that can handle those extended oil change intervals.
@Fontenotcjf
@Fontenotcjf 11 күн бұрын
@@moosemobileautorepair // Just because you have worked on cars for a long time doesn't mean that you are able to "decide" how long engine oil & filters will last. If the engine oil life monitor is a gimmick then explain the algorithm that is used and how the algorithm is faulty. Back prior to the 2000's manufacturers recommended oil changes every 3000 miles but that doesn't mean that is necessary nowadays, especially in hybrid vehicles that are more fuel efficient and easier on the engines.
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair 11 күн бұрын
You will have to run lab tests on different oils and filters at different intervals and compare. But some tests may be relative. A lot of factors are involved. I don't recommend those extended intervals because I have seen engines fail from doing those intervals even with the original oil filters and oil. Engines shouldn't fail or start wearing out if the engineers are good at what they do and if the owners follow their maintenance schedule. I am not the only one who is against the extended intervals, but there are many technicians like myself who are as well and also recommend 8 k Kilometers/5 k Miles interval for best longevity and economy using synthetic oil and filters of course. The evidence all around us will speak for itself and those extended intervals eventually will cause long term wear and damage to those engines.

So because the cam sensor read lower numbers than the new one that’s how you determined it was bad. Was it completely bad or was it still working with symptoms with a code. And how miles do they last for.
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair 11 күн бұрын
This was not a diagnostic video, but just a replacement of the part. I just checked with the multi-meter to make sure that it is working properly and just compared the two just for the sake of making sure that the new one is not defective before I install it. I replaced it because it was leaking oil past the seal. The cam sensor was still working fine on this one.
