Be very careful with the torch finishing method. Some polymer handgun frames get really thin around the thumb area of the grip, overheating that area can cause it to shrink meaning your mags won't eject smoothly anymore. It can be fixed but it's not simple. That happened to an M&P someone sold me with custom stippling. I fixed it by slowly heating the frame and inserting a mag with several layers of tape around it to widen the opening. I was able to fix it but it's not ideal to have to.

Is it possible to add material back to the frame to build up an area say for a thumb rest or a slight mag well flair?

It is but it's difficult and not recommended as it will have a high likelihood of fracturing over time.

The problem is this: it’s almost an inevitability that your closed emitter will eventually lose integrity of a gasket and you will have moisture incursion. Then, every time it’s humid or it’s exposed to rain/snow, you’ll have basically a useless brick on your gun. The open emitter can be cleared and will never have that issue… ever. If you look up people’s experiences, there have been NUMEROUS instances of this issue with very popular dots. Holosun 509 and EPS. Aimpoint ACRO. None of them are immune to the issue. So yeah, a closed emitter is great for the exact instance you’re showing, however in the long run where technology is at right now the open emitter is actually a safer bet if you wanted something you could keep indefinitely.

@@DaveModz Google the aimpoint acro and see how many people have had that issue with that specific optic. Seems to be about the worst when it comes to moisture incursion.
@LoveLikeaHurricane

either open or closed is an issue. Heck, I had a blurred dot when even cleaning my lens and got moisture on the emitter...which was only resolved after q tip dipped with 70% alcohol.

You got any tips or tricks on removing gouges or scratches on a stock black glock frame ? And the pf940c frame ? Sanding grinding melting polishing? with 1 build I know using a dremel or sanding makes it white and not shiny looking . I also was looking for a way to make those sanded parts factory looking . Maybe a plastic welder on low heat ? Any tips would be great
