In fact, i never worked on a valve amplifier. I work only with transistor amplifiers. I'm attempting to repair a 16mm rca photophone valve amplifier. Jane to watch out high volts in it

Rca photophone film projector. *have to look out for high volts present in the circuit. 😊

While the power on, can i measure the different high or low volts of the valves with the positive probe while negative probe attached to the ground of the amplifier.

I had so much fun doing this class, thanks so much for hosting it Colleen! You and Pat and John were great instructors and doing the class gave me confidence to continue learning and working on more amps. Plus that little Deluxe has quickly become my go to amp. I’m looking forward to whenever the next amp build is, you can bet that I’ll be there! (And thanks again for the Scorpion jewel lamps 😁)

I posted several soldering related videos on my channel recently, including review/teardown of a $45 Harbor Freight soldering station and examining the differences between quality tips and the plethora of cheap, junky tips that have flooded the internet The Harbor Freight "Schneider" soldering station is surprisingly good, a great value for the money, and light years better than what I was using as a geeky electronics-nerd teenager and 20-something in the 70's. I also examined and compared some of the soldering accessories that HF sells, including the solder-sucker that Colleen Fazio was seen using in a recent video. (And of course, I gave her a shout-out in my video). Anyway, there may be info in my videos that some of you will find helpful, but they almost certainly won't be promoted by KZfaq because I didn't monetize the vids, and I disabled all ads and Shorts! editing capability. KZfaq likely won't promote them because they can't make any advertising revenue off of me, but I offer them to you as a public service.

In London in the late 70s all we could get were " coiled" cables. Lou Reed used a £5 thirty ft coily cable , he said he wanted to pick up as much radio traffic as possible as it added extra colour to his Guitar sound when he played live...serious. He bought his own spares, no roadies or butlers( Circa 1987)? RIP Lou. Ms Fazio , your video created a " Flash-back" for me and for this I thank-you.

Pete townsend was the first. Actually he was the reason why hiwat started. Amazing amp. The best I've owned. Except 4:23 extremely loud and heavy for stages today. But surely an amazing experience. Thanks for chering.

oh my god. Girl. you did not just put F&T caps in a friggin fender guitar amp. Listen to me girl. listen. Those are f'g BS caps. you need the KEMET PEG high voltage caps or something better than that IDK if they make them in the 450V parts will probably hold up better than this. Listen those F&T caps are garbage they sound okay for a little while but they die so fast and sound like s* fast.
@zvotaisvfi86786 күн бұрын
oh my god there's literally no options out there right now I think the sprague atoms are fake now too. should have just left the caps in and run it on a 200W bulb
@zvotaisvfi86786 күн бұрын
those kemet peg caps will probably hold up though above 450V I'm pretty sure. def better than these F&T caps they've been peddling.

Just a simple question on amps if I may...I have a Boss Katana 100 1x12 and when I turn it on it's quiet(No undue noise) and when I plug a lead into it it hiss's , even more when I switch to the "Brown" amp setting , so my question is could it be a bad grounding in my homes electrical wiring or something in the amp it's self. Sorry for being a dumb arse but I'm stuck out in the middle of nowhere miles from the nearest human. Thanks. Edit...forgot to say I've tried different leads...same problem.

Solid state amps seem just a little bit soulless to me. Tube amps are ALWAYS repairable. Solid states are kinda like a little more throw away. But by any means don't get me wrong, not all of them are.😅

Wow, it looked like an awesome experience! At some point I have to do one of these classes/workshops. I know Mojotone does one, and Bruce Egnater has done them as well. Had I known about this one I would have tried hard to be there. Plus it made me miss back home (lived in the NY area for most of my life until 7 years ago). Plus that Pizza! OMG, the west coast as well as the south can not make pizza! I've been missing that for over 7 years! And truthfully it would have been an honor to learn from you. Maybe someday! Enjoy your amps everyone who attended! I'm sure it was a blast!
