GMK is just ridiculous. I’ll never buy any set of keycaps that costs more than my keyboard, while waiting up to a year. You say clones are bad, but clones are the reason kailh, and countless other new switches exist. Do you tell people to only buy cherry because they’re the original top dog like GMK? It’s the same with keycaps. Clones are getting good now. More and more good custom keyboards are coming from china with really affordable prices. I think they could handle producing some plastic keycaps without messing up.
@benfromsg

The only reason why I don’t support clones is because they are pirated from people’s efforts so is unethical. Imagine someone taking your homework that you did till 2am and submitting it in as their own. There’s no way you are convincing me this is right.

@@benfromsg if people could make what you make better or at the same perceived quality and still sell it at a lower price than you, there’s something wrong with your process. If other companies didn’t ripoff cherry, we’d all still paying premium price while cherry wouldn’t feel the need to innovate at all. Also we’re talking about some molded plastics. It’s not a knockoff adidas or iphone, it’s just plastics. There’s no way a company in china can’t just buy the same machine, use the same materials and make the same product. I get it these designers also worked hard, but they could also make their designs available to cheaper manufacturers instead of GMK don’t they? Just like a gucci you’re paying for the exclusivity. There’s no way you’re convincing me a GMK is better

I would if I can get my hands on some! But off the top of my head, under 150, I suggest to look at epomaker ones 96% plus. PLEASE, if buying from Chinese brands, please please please search for the keyboard itself on amazon, it’s easier to get returns if anything goes wrong with your keyboard! If you want something more expensive, kbdfans has the odin keyboard in stock right now while you can find windx98 keyboards in the aftermarket on r/mm on Reddit. These are all great full sized or near full sized keyboards. Personally I would go for the windx98, and then epomaker then the Odin. Some people have said that the Odin doesn’t have the best sound profile but I have yet to try it out myself, so take it for what it’s worth. Hope I helped!

Once I got into the hobby, my first custom board was still a 96%, because I thought I could never live without the num pad. But then I decided to get a 65% just ti try it out and I loved it. I realized that I don´t use the num pad that much and that I never, ever used the f-keys. The 65% board has been a perfect fit for me. Out of my 10 keebs, 9 are 65%, I just keep the 96% board around for when I have to use Excel. Ayo bro loved ur breakdown of the custrom keyboard hobby as fellow Singaporean recently getting into the rabbit hole myself! Tht being said I hv to comment: many custom keyboard hobby discord grps, like SG MK discord grp(idk abt others im only talking from my experience) are rlly toxic. Idk why but everytime i ask how is switch like on diff keyboards i get things like "i lost so many braincells reading ur question; u know its subjective right?" Like to me its jsut wtf, im only asking abt their experiences with diff keyboard switches...and even when i ask wht stabs u recommend they give one liners as if im stupid. maybe im being a bit too sensitive but shouldnt the mechanical keyboard hobby be abt curiosity and exploring? why then this need for elitism and such arrogant behavior.... Honestly im disappointed as of now how toxic custom keyboard hobbyists can be, esp online when the simplest and most innocent of questions get flamed . And the worst part is when i talked to other keyboard enthusaists from other groups and in other countries they nvr responded in the toxic manner that the Sg kb grps showed to me. I'm not a SUPER proficient excel user, nor do I use excel daily. And I'm sure there are shortcuts that I can probably use to get around, but for me, a few actions like toggling sheets, and between windows to copy and retrieve data, require me to use mouse quite abit to get the pointer/cell exactly where I need it. Besides excel though, I use Fusion360 almost every other day and it is much easier to start working on a feature like extrude with my left hand, and then move the same left hand to the numpad for keying in dimensions. My right hand remains on the mouse for any reorientations/selections.

Trust me, I’m considered realistic as a mechanical keyboard-only reviewer and content reviewer. I suggest you watch my previous video on the Aella where I regretted spending 500 bucks on a piece of aluminum block. Point is. Everyone has a different measuring stick in terms of how they gauge functionality, acoustics and frills. I love functionality. But I also enjoy the premium feel of aluminum, copper and heft to my tool, as opposed to plastic ones. Do I value wireless features? Yep. But do they exist in a decent looking keyboard? Not really. Which is why I sold off the Magnet65 which has wireless functionality but I didn’t like how it looked. What I’m trying to get across sincerely is you can have a preference and also how you spend your money. But to call someone else’s way of spending on things they like or value more as simply frivolous is just shallow. Now do I think there are people who just spend on frivolous items? I sure do, but it’s not for me to get on my high horse to say they are wrong. Hence my reply of “you do you”.

I honestly think I'd rather miss it than look at that knob… like having a ballsack hitch cover on the back of a vehicle Sound and overall value are nice though Nice vid mate
