I had the opportunity to see this rack in person at the Tesla Service Center in San Luis Obispo last weekend. It’s a must have if you intend on using your Cybertruck as a workhorse. Very well built and perfectly proportioned.

Love the build, can you share/show how the connection from the cable shift to the trans is made? Going to be running something very similar, thanks!
@theinnovationhandyman
@theinnovationhandyman Ай бұрын
Yes. I used a custom billet aluminum adjustable shifter made for front wheel drive street racing cars and put it in facing to the rear. Then I had custom cables made and welded a bracket to the top of the transmission shift box.

If you don’t mind me asking how come you didn’t sandblast the body and epoxy it before mounting, it would have saved you a lot of prep
@theinnovationhandyman
@theinnovationhandyman 3 ай бұрын
Good question. I needed to do a pre painting fitting. Do all my adjustments and welding then sandblast , epoxy primer and painting off the frame then final assembly. Keeps the frame and all the components from getting fouled with sand and paint

ICE guy, how many times did your EV friends vehemently assert something verifiably false about ICE cars? Zero. How many times did ICE guy vehemently assert something verifiably false about EVs? Every time he said anything about EVs. Get some training & expertise, dude. Or at least, know what you don’t know and ask questions and listen instead of asserting falsehoods. I his defense, he did make some progress in changing his opinion based on new information over the course of the day, something most people are too egotistical to do. That was admirable. “It’s easier to fool a man than it is to convince him that he’s been fooled.”-Samuel Clemens (I think?). Fun video, thanks.

I’ve found an FC170 that I’m considering doing the same kind of thing to. I was thinking of the steering and wondering why the steering box out of one of those cab over commercial Isuzu trucks or something like that wouldn’t work. Just curious if you looked into anything like that. That system that you are using I’d worry about that steer clear box getting damaged somehow the way it’s mounted. I think that project is so cool… I love those old FC’s.

WOW... love the new bed, can you share a few items.... the cost of the bed and bending? as well the parts used for the latches on the tail gate. I have been able to get the cab of my FC-150 ready to lift off the old truck frame, awaiting a VIN inspection before removal. Then I will get to working on the sheet metal repairs on the cab. I have found a TJ with a Chevy 350 and turbo 700 Trans! I think this will become my recipient for the cab and new bed!
