Canadargo Lake is about 30 minutes away from home. There’s a nice little bait store along the way close to the lake. State launch on west side of lake off Rt 28. Nice launch with a bit different procedure of in and out lanes. Has checkers for invasive species looking over the boat. Shallow lake depth around 30-40 ft. Island with interesting humps and valleys. Good Bass, Perch, Walleye. Walleye 18” limit 3 per day. Really nice Perch and also stocked with Tiger Musky. Casting , Jigging, Trolling Lake is about 3.5 miles long with a long flats and weed beds. I’ve fishing easy access when I’ve develops enough thickness. Lite active during the week picking up on weekends but usually pretty nice.

@@somematters5713 Hi, great question. The NY DOH sets guidelines for fish consumption. I would check that out as they change often. The last time I looked at it, I believe low risk adults could consume 4 portions a month. There are additional guidelines for children and pregnant woman. They have a very informative sight which I recommend before consuming any fish caught. Thanks for watching!

@@NE-EliteFishing My body and I always stay between 50 and 70 feet Spring or fall And always tried to ride the edge of a shelf or drop off And another trick is to always zigzag Guys who troll in a straight line are shooting themselves in the foot We run a lot of Sutton lures Is made here in Naples New York You can run color strips on them as well Blue purple and black work the best And run 1 lower 20 to 30 feet down for browns and landlock salmon The salmon are all right they fight and come out of the water like devil fish Good luck I'm kayuga I don't really fish there much as the water is too warm

Awesome videos, I was wondering how you determine how deep to troll at? Are you going off water temp or just where your marking fish on your electronics. Also at what speed are you trolling? I have fished cayuga quit a bit jigging for lakers but want to start trolling with downriggers. Thanks!
@NE-EliteFishing
@NE-EliteFishing 26 күн бұрын
@@BeerMoneyRanch Thank-you! So the short answer is, it depends. For instance if I am trolling walleye I want my presentation as close to bottom without getting caught up as possible , I like that 3-5 foot range. Trout and suspended walleye, I am going off where I mark fish and I stay above the marks 5-7 feet. Speed will depend on what you are running. But a good place to start is 1.7 -1.9mph. Try to pair your presentations so you have something that will work on all your lines for the speed range you will troll. I hope this helps and Thanks again for supporting my channel! I wish you luck with the downriggers, I think you will love running them! See you on the water! John

You are correct not all Walleye move up to spawn. Walleye females do not reach "sexual maturity" until around age 4-5 and males around 3. This is why it is important to choose your keepers wisely. Because there are far more Walleye that are not spawners than there are spawners (Keep the younger ones, release potential spawners). The females will lay up to 100k eggs, spawn at night time and actually spawn out in 1 night but the migration can take up to a couple of weeks. Where I live the Conservation has determined about 17.5" long is the size of a mature female/male (in Canada we go by length not weight).
@NE-EliteFishing
@NE-EliteFishing Ай бұрын
@@TravisInCanada1 Totally agree, they make a great meal but I will rarely keep any. I will take stocked trout on occasion for a meal. It is my understanding that females growth rate is faster but the males will end up bigger, I am guessing that is where the PA game commission gets the 5-7 year range to reach legal size.

If you are going to be fishing the bigger fisheries I would say get a good kicker motor. It saves a ton of hours on the main motor and gives you a way to get back to shore if you lose main engine power. Also get 18' or bigger. I had a 16'6" tracker and it was too small for the bigger lakes. Good luck in getting your new boat, send me a picture! I will also add I love my Ranger, great brand.
