Jimmy, how are you doing now? Have all your symptoms dissappeared? Do you take B12 now? How often? Thanks for sharing your story. I almost died for lack of B12. Had to change doctors to get the right diagnosis.

I almost died from B12 deficiency and how poorly managed it was. I have been in a constant fight with the GPs and have been self-treating for 4 years now. My case is one of absolute medical negligence and every doctor who failed to acknowledge and refuse to help me should lose their license.

Never take anything from a drug dealer without knowing what it is. In her day they didnt have the internet but today we do. And be careful if you google the positives it will only tell you positives. You have to google the negatives too or google wont offer that information. Absolute disgrace i hope she got some sort of compensation.

Metaclopromide, and all the other anticholinergic medications, has potentially very serious side effects, and should never be taken long term. Please investigate natural remedies, and dietary changes, and if you really need medication for nausea, take 1/4 of the dose, increasing only if necessary. Best wishes to Petra!

The neasea is a symptom of something. Could be neurological could be a deficiency could be a digestive issue allergy anything. If the doctor isnt looking for the cause of your nausea while treating it he sucks. I once bought a medication for travel sickness and was shocked by the possible side effects sounding so much worse than feeling a bit sick or dizzy. I got given a medication that had been banned the were before. There is no mechanism to disseminate the information to doctors when something is banned. Disgraceful.

If you have the MTHFR gene mutation (23&me is where I got my genetic profile done, several years ago) then while your blood tests will show your B12 levels are normal, your body/brain is NOT getting any B12. all the B12 pills, liquid you take by mouth are there for when you have a blood test, but because your body cannot process B12 the 'regular' way you're in big trouble. Injections (or IV) are the only way.

I am so sorry for what happened to you Charlotte. Thank you for telling your story. I just self-injected my first B=12 shot, it took me nearly 4 weeks to work up the courage. It's a long story, but my right foot hasn't been right since I had Covid the 2nd time...and my energy is almost non-existent plus there's a periodic loss of feeling in my toes (yet it's not neuropathy, the doctors say & some said yes it is..but at any rate, "nothing to do... just live with it"). When I'd suggest that maybe I need to self-inject B12 as I did 25 years ago, when I had similar symptoms (but not the rt foot stuff) they'd refer to my B12 blood tests which always showed my levels to be "normal". Then, thankfully, my integral/functional doctor referred me to another integral/functional doctor so I could join on her Shared Medical Appt (SMA). There are 12 other women in those 1x month meetings that go on for nearly 2 hrs. Awesome information sharing. In one of the meetings I mentioned that I thought B-12 shots might help. My new doc asked me a lot of questions..but when I said I'd had the 23&me genetic testing. She wanted to know what genes seem to be problematic. I told her about the various ones..which included MTHFR mutation."That's all I need to know!" Immediately, she wrote out a RX & sent to compounding pharmacy, etc. With MTHFR,--- blood testd show your levels are normal, no need for B12--- but you're NOT processing the B12 supplements, no matter how $$ they may be. ------ It's very possible I won't have to live with my foot problem, which sometimes makes me fall over.. You are an inspiration.--- Doctors miss so much! We must do our own research & also follow our hunches... and be blessed with intelligent, caring doctors.

I did research about b12 and found out that ascorbic acid makes b12 unavailable to your body. Ascorbic acid is an additive in foods to protect the freshness. If you are have problems with fatigue check your food or supplements. This info came from the Mayo Clinic !

I live in the USA. My neuro diagnosed my B12 deficiency. Before I was able to begin the injections, she ordered a test to find out if there were autoimmune antibodies present....and they were. This meant that my Intrinsic Factor had been destroyed leading to a final diagnosis of Pernicious Anemia. Intrinsic Factor is an enzyme found in the Duodenum that absorbs the B12 from the foods you eat and transports it throughout the body. The only way to get the B12 your body needs to function properly is with a B12 injection. It doesn't matter how much B12 rich foods or supplements you take in, without I.F. your body will become B12 deficient. Two symptoms I didn't hear mentioned was problems with balance and memory. These symptoms mimic Multiple Sclerosis and Dementia. I wonder how many people have been misdiagnosed with these two diseases when in all actuality it was a B12 deficiency. I am so sorry that those of you who live in the UK have such a difficult time getting treatment for B12 deficiency. Even here in the USA, our primary care doctors (you call them GPs) do not order a B12 blood test with routine bloodwork...we have to ask to have it included but the problem is most patients do not know to ask for it.

And the problem is that most doctors rely solely on potentially misleading serum blood tests & know diddly squat about the clinical symptoms. Why are serum tests potentially misleading? Because they do not show cellular status, nor do they determine how much of the B12 is active or inactive. If most is inactive & has failed at some point in the conversion process, it cannot get into the cells & the test result may be meaningless. There is no ‘gold standard’ test for B12 deficiency. Homocysteine & MMA tests ‘may’ help, but are not always accurate either. If someone has a low B12 level, then absorption may be the issue, however if the problem lies within the several step conversion process, you test result may be ‘normal’ or even high - and a high level may even be a ‘red flag’ that it’s not being utilised very well at cellular level. Sadly, because of this, way too many people are falling through the gaping cracks in the system. My own husband’s B12 deficiency was dismissed at a level of 360, but because I am very familiar with the many symptoms, most of which he had, generous amounts of ‘Active’ (Methylcobalamin & Adenosylcobalamin) sublingual liquid B12 got him back on his feet within days. Bear in mind that other B vitamin deficiencies may be a factor too, especially B1/Thiamine - and one of its many roles is in energy (ATP) production. It too can masquerade as many other diseases & ailments. Modern Beriberi is very much alive & kicking………

I have so much of this. But I’ve been trying B12 sublingual for years not sure that’s it (doctors didn’t really care either). Whatever it is still undiagnosed. That is my big problem….whatever I have, the tests come back and they blow me off. And might be depressed or attention-seeking, needing psychiatry. This is the biggest problem….they do basic tests, and shrug when they don’t see anything, instead of sticking with me and trying to find out what is wrong. I’ve had troubles for 25 years, increasingly. Weird stuff as well as “vague” symptoms like fatigue. I just want someone to keep helping me find out eventually. This is in the US BTW, so not generally socialized med. but the truth is all doctors are human, and most just go thru the basics and don’t make serious effort unless it’s common.

@@theOlLineRebel is it liquid sublngual B12 with both active forms, Methylcobalamin & Adenosylcobalamin? The type can make a big difference. B1 (Thiamine) deficiency can also be a factor, and there is also rampant Vitamin D deficiency these days, too. May people cannot absorb it at cellular level very well even if they seem to get plenty of sun or it in their food. So many health issues can be addressed with optimal D. You might find Dr. Judson Somerville’s book ‘The Optimal Dose’ of interest too. Dr. Brooke Goldner has also been helping thousands successfully regain their health on her ‘hypernourishing’ protocol (lots of free videos & webinars on here).

@@alisonbamford6723 Been on 2000IU daily D3 for more than a decade. Using sublingual solid methyl, trying with adeno soon. No one really cared about the B12 levels, but I pushed on it and oncologist (hemotologist) agreed to just 1000mg/day, but I've been doing 2000, and she stated just sublingual, no shots needed. I have PPI risk factor and possibly the ileum risk factor, so much use "direct to system", not just chewing. I think most of this is wishful thinking/snake-oil salesmen.
