This was the gent we paid to come over to Scranton and drop two chimneys at the US Steel plant. Gent dropped the chimney on a cafeteria full of kids then high tailed it back to England. 😔

Be interesting to see how the clowns we have today in the health and safety department would tackle a chimney?

I love Fred Dibnah. He was one of my television heroes growing up. I was born in 1963 and im now 60. When i see all theses young lads running about having fun it reminds me of how i grew up. Those were far better times. I still love watching his programme repeats on TV.

Fed up with Married Life? Need a Change? Cooking for One appeals more and more? Then get your wife to Blackpool on holiday and follow the Dr Fred Dibnah recipe for marital destruction. Make your wife pass your ladders up to you as you fell a chimney in the p!ssing down rain, so long as you buy her a Kagool what could possibly go wrong? 😂😂😂 Diamond Geezer Fred, but families.......... He's sh!t 'em!

I read somewhere that the condition of the bricks was poor, so that could be a factor in it collapsing on itself. Fred would have done everything 100% right for it to fall in the right direction but it came down on its self instead. It would be difficult to asses the quality and condition of the brickwork especially when’s its hidden at the rear side of the chimney.

Many of the health and safety critics here make more errors typing than Fred did. He was a practical engineer who followed traditional methods and learned from observation and experience. Today’s armchair H&S critics would probably shut down a job if someone hit their thumb with a hammer while knocking out a brick.
