In 1946, every player was a rookie in the league. That's crazy for me to think about.

I feel like without a Pistol Pete. We get no Magic Johnson or Larry Bird etc..... As far as court awareness, ball handling, passing ability, shooting, etc..... Pete was before my time. But, I have so much respect and admiration for this man. Rest in peace.

First time watching an old game like this. It's a lot more entertaining than today's games to be honest. First time seeing Phil Jackson play as well. Too bad all these teams gets moved around over the years. Would be interesting with Jazz in New Orleans. Also, I miss the Supersonics a lot too. : (

That was fantastic! Except the ending and the face to face with Jezus Kries (sp??) I might be missing something here.. What the heck does that mean? lol. Did Pete also have another rival? I played it over again but still have no clue as to what's being said there.

There'll never be another one like him. All the many, many things he could do with a basketball. No, not Globetrotters, not Steph Curry, not Caitlin Clark, only the Pistol can do ALL THESE THINGS!

If Pistol ‘s knee would have never been injured there’s no telling what he would have done for the Celtics. He detested not being a starter. It definitely slowed him down but he still had the accuracy. RIP Pistol.

Pete was one of my sports heroes and believe it or not lots of black kids esp little boys loved Pete and his game. Whatever jealousy there was in the NBA, on the playground you would see black kids with a basketball and a marker stenciled "Pistol" on it. Sometimes I say how the 70's were better than today and I would never trade my childhood in the 70's to kids today, but one thing that did suck in the 70's was medical technology. OMG if they had the technology of today, his knew issues would have been resolved and doctor would have discovered that heart ailment. Even what killed Brian Piccolo, that type of cancer Testicular cancer has a very high survival rate, with over 90% cure rate now and the specific kind of aggressive testicular cancer that took his life now has a better than 80 percent cure rate. But yes Pistol was awesome and I still remember when he single handedly destroyed the Knicks and defensive genius guard Walt Frazier kzfaq.info/get/bejne/obl1frZ3ntqvn4E.html

His ball handling skills and trickery were nothing short of remarkable. Hell, the Globetrotters tried to recruit him. He could play in any era. Just think about how it would have been if the 3 point line was available to him early. Whew, Scary. He left this world way too soon. To his benefit before he passed he was a man of God. It was the part that was missing in his life. Luckily he realized this and he was ready to go. RIP Pistol.

Pete got his stuff from Earl the Pearl when he was at WSSU. Pete was in HS in Raleigh. When Earl came to Raleigh to play Shaw University, Pete was there watching. and taking note.
