Where does it say 1/21 scale? Why didn't Ertl make a true 1/18 scale car?
@GeorgesMiniatureCars2 ай бұрын
On the front of the box below ECTO 1, it says 1:21 die cast metal ambulance body. In 1:18 scale this model would be much bigger than the standard 1:18 boxes, so it's more practical(cheaper) to adjust the size of the casting rather than making a whole new box for just one model. Thanks for watching!

I'm not a fan of the 5 Dot or Ultra Hot wheels either! Sources wildly disagree with each other about when Toy #136 was released and what variations are in which year and what kind of cards they're packaged on, so ALL of the information I'm about to share comes from trucks that are in my possession and still mounted on their known original unopened cards, with the exception of one, which I currently have on order. This info is only about the carded versions and doesn't include anything about the boxed version, since I don't own any boxed ones. Keep in mind that this is probably not exhaustive info and that there could still be other variations of the 1996 releases that I'm unaware of their existence. Ok, here goes... Regarding the teal ones... Toy #136 was released twice. The first time was for the 1992 season and there were four of them. All four had 2029 on the bottom left corner on the front of the card. All four had the Doozie on the front of the card. Two of them were on solid blue cards and had Ultra Hots and HO wheels, the latter being originally released in the "The Hot Ones" series, but I don't remember exactly when. Those two versions also had a card variation... In the top left corner, they could have had a Speed Points banner. The other two were on blue cards that transitioned to white at the bottom. These two were released with 5 dot and 5 Spoke wheels. To my knowledge, neither of these had the "Speed Points" banner packaging, but if they did, I've never seen one. For 1996, there were only two released that I know of. These cards were blue to white and had what is I guess is based on a fairly late model at that time Mustang. These don't have the 2029 on the bottom left of the card, but instead they have 17545 at the bottom right. The first one sits on 5 Spoke wheels. The second one is a little weird. It sits on 5 Dot wheels, which is nothing abnormal, but this one has chrome windows, and as far as I know is the only carded version of #136 to ever have chrome windows. The next one you discussed was the maroon one. That one is #289 from the Steel Stamp series. It was released in three versions on five cards. That I know of. They were all maroon, they had the same tampos, chrome base and chrome windows, and had Ultra Hots, 5 Spoke and 7 Spoke wheels. These three were on the standard mainline cards. The last two were on two car cards, were identical to the other three and both had Ultra Hots. One was sold with Zendert Fact 4 and the other with Steel Passion. The next one was from the Race Truck series #382. This one came in three, possibly four variations. This is a cool truck. I've never been an Earnhardt fan, but fortunately they refrained from dropping a "3" on the doors, because that would have stopped me dead from buying it. Lol... Anyway, variations... some had a red Hot Wheels logo at the bottom rear corner of the doors, some didn't. Both of them had the yellow lettered GoodYear Eagle 7 Spoke wheels. Some of the ones with the Hot Wheels logo on the doors were on solid black 7 Spokes. That one is a given. Some sources also say that the solid black wheels were also on the version without the logos, but I've never seen this version, not even a picture of one. That first yellow one that you showed, #771, that one was also available on an identical card, only it had a blue car instead of red. The silver one in Hot Wheels livery also came in a convention car, limited to 500 examples, and its card was identical to the retail one. Inside the blister was a ZAMAC body, a black chassis, the regular 5 Spoke wheels and orange translucent windows. The last time I looked into buiying one, they were being listed on eBay for around $100. That was several years ago, so it wouldn't surprise me if they were trying to get upwards of $150 now. No thanks... they can keep them! It also wouldn't surprise me if they were the same sellers still trying to unload the same trucks lol. I made one for myself though, just because. It came out pretty cool looking, but even a quick glance reveals that it probably isn't authentic, which is fine with me. I was going for similar, not authentic. That other yellow one is another pretty cool example. The Bonus Car was for 1999. Circus On Wheels and Radical Wrestlers. I really don't like either of them. I have both of them because for a long time, I was buying all of them. Every time I'd see one that I didn't have, Buy it. I've always liked this casting, but it's inevitable that at some point, you're going to find one that you just don't like. Cop Rods was 2000. I really like this one, in spite of the fact that it's a police vehicle lol. The next one over, the blue one, was from a 1999 five pack called House Calls. Yep, you're right, the one on the yellow and red card was from 2008. It was called Classics (Series 4). I don't have any of this set. If I remember correctly, I think it was the aqua one that was on a different size and shape card than the blue, green and red trucks. It would have been on a shorter and wider card than the other three. Aside from the convention cars, these four are among the very few Flashsiders that I don't have, the other two being from a series called Street Show. That last one that you couldn't remember what product line it came from, with the Centerline logo and wheels is one of two from Slick Rides in 2010. I really like this one too. As far as their premium Flashsiders go, they have a really nice one in Ultra Hots from 2007 that is burgundy with wide whitewall RRs on deep dish mags. This isn't the same Ultra Hots that we have today with $3 cars exclusively from Target. It's an actual premium line that is completely unrelated to the Target line. This particular truck doesn't have any graphics or stripes or flames or anything else like that. It's just a beautiful, clean looking truck the way Chevrolet would have sent the Task Force out into the world in 1956. Thank you for sharing your collection with us. You're obviously a real fan of this casting, and there aren't too many of us out there that have collected more than two or three.

Like you I totally love Corgi Toys.. I grew up in the 1960's and Corgis were my favourite toy back in the day. In the 1990's I attended an auction with a friend and by chance there were about 8 - 10 mint condition Corgis which hit me with a nostalgia overload. Naturally, I bid on them and they came home with me. I then started collecting the ones I had as a kid and now at 67 years of age I have two cabinets with in excess of 250 Corgi vehicles all from my childhood era of between 1958 to 1970... I only need to look and handle them and I'm instantly transported back to being 10 years old again. Along with several others and all the original catalogues I also have the same book that you have.
