Please delete this video, we have enough of Greenville in top 10 videos every year for the last 15 years. Please stop, the people moving here in the last 5 years behave, drive like a-holes like the State they came from. Please delete.

I moved here 2 years ago for a fresh start and a better life. And one this is 100% accurate the traffic is freakin ridiculous! And to top it off, no one seems to know how to drive here lol. Blinkers, tailgating, 10 miles under the speed limit, cell phones at the wheel scrolling fb lol not paying attention the light has turned green. And much more. Like almost everyday on my commutes. Idk maybe it’s bc I’m from upstate ny we like to “move our ass” so to speak.

Some people in Greenville are public servants. My Godmother worked hard to help Greenville be at it's best. I love my Aunt; she is the kind of person that you want to help your communities in so many ways. She works so hard, she never has a day off. Has a very busy schedule. I wish i had her energy. She could be the president of the United States if she wanted to. She's a great leader.

Greenville middle school was brutal in the 80's because of the buses. Kids sitting on the floor, standing up, 4 to a seat, some sitting on other's laps 🤯😵‍💫😵😫😱!!!! I wish i could be compensated for all the traumatic situations, tbh, but it wasn't as bad for me as it was for others!!! Alot of bullying, mean teachers, mean principals, mean kids. Go to Palmetto. Their standards are very high. When they go on a field trip, Palmetto students have a reputation for being the best behaved students. I thank Principal Adkins. He was a class act. RIP Mr. Phibbs, THE SPIRIT OF PALMETTO MUSTANGS! 🐎🐎🐎🐎⚾️🏈🏆🏀🏐

Hey! My wife and I will be moving to Greenville soon. I would love to be in walkable downtown but she would like a single family home. We compromised on any neighborhoods with close proximity to the swamp rabbit since I can simply bike into downtown. Which single family neighborhoods still have good proximity to downtown for a shortened bike ride?

Oh hey im in the banking industry as well. 2025-2026 will be a better time to buy. We are in housing bubble bigger than 08. We have so much new construction in the upstate that will also help level out prices. Florida and Texas are crashing right now and the smaller markets like Greenville will follow shortly after. With the income to avg home price ratio, its not sustainable. It does NOT matter if interest rates come down a half a point. The purchase price is too high. Also with taxes and insurance sky rocketing, first time home buyers and lower income earners cannot afford this.

Born here, raised here, family has been here or near here for 250 years. Your assessment of life in Columbia is quite fair and on-target. When new folks from up north ask how do you get used to the heat of that miserable 3 months of summer, I tell them "You don't". Winter temps are mild but the humidity can add a bit of extra chill that is not very pleasant. Everything else is very nice. We used to get top-notch touring acts decades ago, but you are a 2-2.5 hour drive from anything you might want for a big show. Or, the mountains, the ocean and beach, lots of really good things. Depending on how often you do a particular activity, its either pretty good or not-so-good. But, for most people for day-to-day living, its a very good place to be. This is mostly a government town. dominated by higher ed, retail banking, state and federal government, that sort of thing. The manufacturing base is and always has been a bit thin as compared to metro Greenville or Charleston. As our narrator above kinda' mentioned, that is by design. The two economic centers of the state, the Upstate and Low Country, put the political center out of harms way in the middle. Go to the navigable headwaters of the Santee-Congaree rivers, look for a high spot of ground above the malarial mosquitos of the day, and you have Columbia. Lots of people look at Columbia and see a lot of money and think they can sell upscale products here in quantity. But, a lot of the money is in tied up in old money, and they didn't get to be old money by spending a lot of it freely. Plan on selling a lot of high-end sports cars and other trinkets of conspicuous consumption? You will starve. You plan on selling a boatload of Kia's and lots of groceries and work clothes to people that go into the office to work for a living? You will do just fine. All in all, I love the place! Great place to grow up, great place to grow old...

Depends on if they align with your morals and values. My father's father was born and raised in North Carolina, my mother's family has been on the same land in upstate new york for over 250 years. And because I think they are all fools, self oriented jerks that are lawless, inconsiderate people I don't wish to live there any longer. My values align with south carolina so I'm moving there. Hoping people welcome my calm, respectful, american traditional values into their world, where I plan to work hard, raise a family one day. I had members of my family in the Continental Army, air force, marines and I am a public servant, who is tired of living in Rod sterlings world of nightmare and I want peace, a place to fish. I am not an immagrant, I'm an oppressed American who wants to assimilate myself towards a healthy relationship with my neighbors. I hope that is the type of person you would welcome to your community. Because I'm not welcome in my hometown. And it's a shame, because I'm sincerely a hardworking, skilled tradesman. And I just want a home for my family that I plan to pay for with my own money.

Disingenuous and misleading. The Nicholtown example compares an abandoned house (i.e. a vacant lot) to a new renovated multi-lot home. Additionally the mixing of Greenville county and Greenville city creates a false narrative. Towns like Simpsonville, Mauldin, and Travelers Rest are great places to move to. The roads are bad in most of the state, that part is true.

This lifelong proud New Englander wouldn't move south for many different reasons! Primarily because of the heat and humidity and more horrific hurricanes! We get tail ends of hurricanes and the last big one was Hurricane Bob in 1991, over 30 years ago. But remember, there's no such thing as Utopia, a perfect place to live! All states, cities and towns have their problems, some more than others. Seems like there are more problems today than ever before! "Home is where the heart is', so follow your heart as well as your brain! Lots of videos on KZfaq on why you shouldn't move to S.C.! Good luck and best wishes to all~

More like double! A 30 year loan adds a lot of interest over time! You can really shorten your loan time and interest if you can make an extra payment each year. Some people choose to do this by paying every 4 weeks, and not every month, but there are lots of ways to go about it.

@HomesoftheUpstate Thank You for your response. Please mind, I am new to all of this. What would be the benefit of getting into a mortgage then? Besides gaining equity, even though the banks make way more off of you, then you gaining that equity? Would it not be better to rent, and save that extra money for 30 years instead?

The interesting part about real estate is that you’re self employed. This is informative. It’s data backed. I live outside the city and properties are flying off the shelf. Yes, he’d love to help a viewer to buy or sell a home. It’s how he makes a living. I’d like to help said buyer with a mortgage. At the end of the day, true real estate professionals focus on advising and educating, and informing prospective buyers and sellers. People come to us for information and guidance. It’s not buying a car or a t shirt at target. It’s a big decision. KZfaq and other social platforms are great sources for local information.
