Hello! I just bought a Grundig2080 and without a cassette loaded it makes an awful noise and the switches looks sliding weirdly. Is that something you have also encountered in your model or I should declare mine as broken? Thanks in advance.

Hi! Well, hard to say. Try to clean it up deeply, especially the internal switches, the one related to REC. It can be that's the cause of the noise.

Thank you so much sir! What a lovely job u've done. I am so happy it works now! Great video! Hats down. I wonder too, what was the actual reason of a damage, wherher that could be due impedence failure or something as @enricoself2256 wrote.

My pleasure! Not that skilled yet to check any impedence failure of a speaker, so I went straight to the replacement option and I enjoyed it a lot :)) Next time I ll try to learn also how to check it.

Odd coincidence, I just bought today in a flea market a used RQ-L340 which is a similar but older model (my guess is early 90's) My experience with Panasonic stuff is that "it just works" and indeed in my case all it needed was a new belt (the old one was a bit too stretched) and two drops of oil in the motor bearing. I had a speaker failure once but it was a digital recorder; I stole the replacement from a donor microcassette recorder. Have you measured the impedence of the damaged speaker ?
@macropathsoundscapes
@macropathsoundscapes 27 күн бұрын
Yes, indeed, it just works, and I also noticed the weight. It's really light, and looks almost like there is nothing inside. Not sure if it's a good or bad thing, but ok. No, I didn't measure anything because I'm not that skilled. I just thought it could be a speaker problem and eventually I found a similar replacement speaker on eBay. That's it.

Mine seems to mostly work mechanically, but it makes awful noises that sound like feedback. They change the character when I touch it around the main IC, and sometimes they go away but I still don't think it detects the signal from the playhead. I'm completely lost in this, where would you start?
@macropathsoundscapes
@macropathsoundscapes 28 күн бұрын
Hi. According to my experience, this could be an issue related to the REC button which inside is going to push an internal little switch that, when dirty, might cause that feedback noise. Try to clean it up and see if this noise disappears.

@@macropathsoundscapes You're spot on. I spritzed it with a contact cleaner and it worked! but I can't quite reach the contacts without removing the board to give them a thorough cleaning. Very good video but I suggest the following, to remove rust or traces of acid from the metal parts, first wash with soapy water, then use baking soda and water, leaving it with the texture of toothpaste. Apply and cover everything, leave it on for 24 hours. Then wash again with soapy water, use an air compressor and polish if you want with a shine.

Hi! Thanks for your video! I've got one problem, maybe you can help me: I've got Zoom H1n and Panasonic RQ-L36, when I plug-in Jack from recorder to dictaphone, I hear very loud noise in my headphones in Rec mode. All volumes are low, but they didn't reduce the noise. I try different headphones - the result is same. What's the problem? Very high input gain in dictaphone?
@macropathsoundscapes
@macropathsoundscapes 5 ай бұрын
Hi! Try to keep the right distances especially between ZOOMH1 and headphones. Maybe that's a feedback noise. Are the volumes also low into the ZOOM H1 input and output? In the dictaphone I think doesn't matter which volume you put, so focus on the volumes of the Zoom.

I have one of those too ! In the box but not complete. I serviced it some years ago, I seem to remember I had to change both belts and the autostop mechanism no longer works: it is based on a clutch that it is supposed to slip at the end of the tape, but it has stiffened and the belt slips instead.

@@macropathsoundscapes I think there is no way to fix it, plastic gears have shrunk over time and the clutch is stiffer then what it should be by design. Clutches do not age very well and they are one of the main sources of headaches in walkman's and recorders

Thank you for the video! I just got an older Sanyo TRC 5650, which on the inside looks quite similar (many more capacitors though...) and seems to have similar problems to yours here. So I will try and follow your procedure to see if I can also repair it. At the end of your video there is a line saying that you repaired the internal REC switch. What/where is that and what was there to repair it?
@macropathsoundscapes
@macropathsoundscapes 8 ай бұрын
Hi! I'm glad you will find this video useful. Regarding the REC problem, basically all the times you're pressing the red button to record, it's going to press a particular internal switch which most of the times it gets dirty and needs to be cleaned. When dirty it might get stuck and not allowing the REC function to start, causing also some feedback noises. This is what I learnt after repairing several similar dictaphones. Hope it helps.

@macropathsoundscapes Жыл бұрын
Hi Enrico! Maybe you should check the earphone jack and the connection of his flat cable into the circuit board. No, the second one I was not able to fix in this video, it remained like that unfortunately, just for replacements, but there was a faulty component. The flat cable of the earphones has 3 ways, and they all go to the circuit board, so maybe in your case I would double check if it's properly connected as that connection decides if audio should flow through the earphones or the speaker.
