This are not chimneys this are cooling towers this . cooling towers cools the stram with has rotated the turbine on 3000 r p m it cools the steam by falling the water in a cooled reservoir where the cool water is coming then some of the steam gets converted into vapour and some of the steam converted into water thus water goes in reservoir for re use Their are 2 types of cooling tower used in this power plant 1 the cooling towers which you have shown is known as ( n d c t) Natural Draft Cooling Tower 2 induced draft cooling tower.
