Hate watching KK, the hands down looking for body shots leaves the head open for occasional head kick, it's nearly as bad as watching WTF Taekwondo, give me ITF version any day. The leg kicks and leg conditioning is the only thing I like about KK, which is a pity, because their competition format is terrible. All the traditional martial arts need to drop the floor fighting and migrate to the ring. MT style between the ropes, and above all, drop the beyond stupid, NO HEAD CONTACT rules, it's less than totally impracticable for competition fighting and self defence.

Not all Martial Arts are meant to make you a street fighter. A martial art is not only a fighting sport, it's more than that. Of course people that just want to become the best all round fighters will go the Muay Thai or MMA, as they should ! Still, Kyokushin is a great martial art for people who want to gain confidence in themselves and get tougher, without having to worry about repeated blows to the head, nose, etc. I'm not a fighter at all but I love training Kyokushin ! It makes fighting sport more accessible to people and trains the spirit/discipline really well. It also filters out people that are just here to hurt other people really quickly. Just a different mindset with different objectives :)
