Nice Road runner, looks good in the yellow, are those wheels part of that kit?
@JulesMorin-rz5fr4 күн бұрын
@@slowridemodelcars1687 yes, wheels were in the kit - pretty much box stock except the slapper bars, a few decals and the radial stamped tires are from the Monza kit

Still looking awesome!!! Think I'm gonna start this kit as my next build!!
@JulesMorin-rz5fr7 күн бұрын
@@carouselofcrazychrisb one viewer doesn’t like the interior, either because it’s brown, too glossy or both. My brother in law had an original ‘64 Impala SS 409 back in the early ‘70s. It was blue, with a white top and a brown leather interior from the factory. When built this I thought I’d try a similar odd colour combination. When I have time, I think I’ll brush some clear dull coat over the seats.
@carouselofcrazychrisb6 күн бұрын
@@JulesMorin-rz5fr I personally love the color combo, reminds me of a John Deere look. This build inspired me to do mine next, thinking I'm gonna do the drag custom

It's a darn nice-looking build, until you look at the interior.
@JulesMorin-rz5fr8 күн бұрын
@@walterhammond290 yeah, I’m probably going to brush some dull coat on the seats to knock the gloss brown down. This was my 3rd build since returning to the hobby.
@JulesMorin-rz5fr8 күн бұрын
…..I remember now, when I brushed that brown paint on, I was thinking it was going to be semi-gloss. Best I can do now, is brush some clear semi-gloss on the seats and part of the door cards.

Thanks bud, it’s a great hobby. I try to encourage others - I started building again during the pandemic. In my youth, I built and destroyed literally 100s of kits, that are now reissues, as a result I understand most model car kits - that’s how I learned though. One of the biggest mistakes I find novice builders make, is in their executions of older lower quality kits, like the old MPC reissues - whereby, they try assembling them like carburetors, then wonder why they get poor results. A lot of older kits require cutting, sanding, fitting, and fabricating - they can also be slapped together relatively easy, but they usually won’t look satisfactory. Newer kits, with higher parts counts go together like jigsaw puzzles, and will more often than not yield great results. I find the skill levels written on kits are misleading in that regard.

@@timczifrik7715 Thanks 🙂 I started when I was 8 years old - built and experimented with literally hundreds and hundreds of kits - most were glue bombs. I quit building for nearly 3 decades then started again during the pandemic. I use the most basic supplies - building models is very therapeutic.
