Sorry I couldn't be sure from the video: in what manner did you add wood for the end of the resident channel when it ended in the middle of a joist space at a wall? Did you just overlap with a 2x4 on the top plate of the wall running parallel to the joist? I am working in an old home where the top of the non-structual stud wall is not straight with the bottom of the joist. Figured I will be forced to adding blocking between the studs and then mount a stud to the blocking to finish my corner and have a solid mount for the last resident channel screw. Thanks for any thoughts!

Your "pink foam" comment was of interest to me because I need to insulate my garage. Was this pink foam a faced batt?

Wow, im litteraly a contractor I feel embarrassed to say it but my hvac system has disconnected ducts, uninsulated terminations to the first floor No mastic on any transition. Ive been working up there for the past week to get it done but i had no idea it was that bad, I thought I would have to spend thousands to fix my ac but i just did it for $50 lol.

My Batts have a flexible side arrow (any area to the right of the burn track pattern which is firm). Is there a trick to what side you trim off if needed or if you insert a side first? Also I'm no expert but is a double vapor barrier bad?

I am planning on installing vinyl flooring in my basement. The floor is cement. Do you have to lay any plastic down first. The cement is not painted. House is about 40-50 years old.

I did this..rockwool, RC, 5/8th and..can still hear every footstep. It didnt even stop 10%.. Voices are impossible to hear though, but the footsteps may as well be on top of your head. But im starting to think its coming down through the walls and bevause the joists are 2x4s..and the walls have woodchips for insulation..im at my wits end now.

Hard to deal with sound.. if you hit the resilient channel with a screw it completely cancels it out. Imagine of sound like air or water, if there's any leakage through the walls. It will come down. Good luck.

Great Videos! I don't know why(probably because of the budget?), but the ZIP system is not widely accepted by contractors in Canada. Plywood/OSB + TYVEK are still their first choice.
@HugoBuilds
@HugoBuilds 9 ай бұрын
Thanks! Mostly budget driven. A sheet of zip r around here is about 4 times the price of a cheap insulated OSB panel and even more than that if your just going with regular osb/plywood. Other main thing is unfamiliarity with the trades. Most framers haven’t worked with it. They don’t know the detailing or how much longer it takes to install and tape. I’m happy we used it. And on paper it’s great, but there are definable challenges to working with it. One being the price. Two, the tape. Easy to tape stuff on the ground before lifting but once it’s up you have to tape those seems of the connecting wall and that can be really tricky on a two-three storey house. The tape and other zip products are also super expensive. All the foam edges of the windows had to be taped up to get our proper air seal and that took a while! All that to say is that people know tyvek and are used to it. But I think that’s changing! Thanks for watching.

The architectural design concept is beautiful. Where I live we are plagued by grotty developers who are only interested in building cookie cutter houses with little or no vision. This on the other hand is custom home building at its finest. I cannot wait to see the finished product.

Wow great video to see, especially after deciding to also do the kitchen our selves in our home renovation (we want to work with METHOD, BODARP style or with ENHET) Just a little question, did you expierince problems with staining ? (i read some reviews online that stains are almost permantent , wich kinda got me worried ) On the other hand i found quite a lot of reviews who say it is good to clean with window cleaner so.
@HugoBuilds
@HugoBuilds 9 ай бұрын
Thanks. I can't comment on the staining. We weren't there for much longer after the install so we never got to see the kitchen in use. Ido remember that the white we used was the cheapest one we could get so I would recommend going with one of the higher end finishes from Ikea. The BODARP was really nice quality and colour so I can't imagine it would stain but I can't say for sure.

I know comments that aren't based around thanks and congrats get chalked up as negative, but I'd like to give you perspective. I found your video trying to learn new tips and tricks for installing resilient channel. It seems your video is geared around showing the public what your up to. Half way through you mention that it's so easy you don't need to explain it. You also mention how some may have a good eye to notice your spacing. Spacing is a great example of things to explain. You then proceed screwing 2 screws per joist, and mention 1 would probably be fine, but read instructions. That is a great place to wrap up my comment cause it shows you haven't read manufactures instructions and have offered no tips in the different circumstances or layouts one might run into. I'm not trying to lay into you. I appreciate you taking the time to try and educate. And hopefully me pointing out some criticism might help you and your audience in the future
