1st horse - (Hunter) 2nd horse (Dressage) 3rd horse: Saddle seat Horse- I also would not put a youth rider on a horse with a long shanked broken snaffle, she should have been riding all three in snaffles, either half or full cheek. Rider has an excellent seat! She just needs refinement and some cue work-- but her basic seat is outstanding. Great job- I purposely wrote this before I saw which (if any horse was chosen) - Ive been a "r' rated judge and a trainer for 25+ years :) (PS - Try an American Saddlebred!!!

the mother gal has a good seat, good balance and excellent leg position which does not move in the trot or the canter; an enviable ss posture! the younger gal needs to learn NOT to bonk the horse with her heels in order to go forward, PRESS DONT BONK!! any ss judge will see the bonking heels and mark her down.
@adamsonequestrian4587
@adamsonequestrian4587 Жыл бұрын
That was her first time riding a saddle seat horse and riding in a saddle seat saddle. Anyone is bound to make mistakes. SS horses have a completely different action compared to hunters which is what she was used to. It's hard to find a different balance at first, which is exactly what she was trying to do. Even seasoned riders aren't perfect. I think she's brave for not only wanting to try something different, but trying it on horses she didn't know which can be nerve wracking on its own. We try to focus on the positives first and foremost and go from there. Appreciate the comment! That's actually her Nana, not her mom! She doesn't age! 😆
@Lauren-vd4qe

@@adamsonequestrian4587 agreed; ive just never seen anyone heelbonk a ss horse, one risks a very sudden aggressive forward jump from the horse if you do that; and the older gal is a granny? what? im a granny and im sure i could not ride a ss horse with that great form! she must have plenty of ss show class experience to keep that posture!

Saddle seat riders have to sit further back in their saddle than you do hunt seat. Otherwise, you'd get thrown off the horse from the massive amounts of power coming from their shoulder, which you would be impeding because you'd be sitting right on top of it. The horse wouldn't even be able to move freely.
