Gaz I found this stream from the Soma Synths website. Dude it is so lovely to watch you on camera, you’re such a gent and I love seeing inside your creative process. An extremely enjoyable hour on my Sunday afternoon!
And its recording in 32 Bit Float - this surely adds to the price!

Disorganized, muddled, confusing. Kudos to Gaz for taking on this challenge, but he needs to think through what he wants to say & how he'll demonstrate it. The GR-55 is a confusing but capable beast. He's managed to make it even more confusing & intimidating. Disorganized? He's 29:40 into a 2 hour video before realizing he needs to tune his guitar. WTF? The wiring in this guy's brain must be frayed, shorting & crossed. He couldn't have done worse if he was drunk. Actually, perhaps he was. He's managed to get across one (1) idea convincingly & one (1) poorly. First, the Gumtown's 3rd party Editor is genius, & necessary. Get it. Second, you have to play very cleanly or things get muddled with the synth. So play clean. Gaz manages to demonstrate how badly you can make a synth sound: not exactly genius, or helpful. Here, it sounds like crap. If you want to hear what you can do with this thing & why you should find one, check out what Andres Colin does with it gigging on KZfaq. Spend 5 minutes listening to Andres & you'll want one. DO NOT waste hours listening to this guy.

Hi, Gaz! Do you have a video explaining in detail (a true step-by-step instruction) how to set up the Gigcaster 8 with the GA-FC EX pedal? If you have not recorded one, could you direct me to someone who has done it? My very specific question is this: how do I assign each switch to perform a given task -- let's say, I want to sing a song that has a part where I will be singing with the double-voice effect; then, I want to sing another part of the song doing vocal harmony (higher & lower). How exactly do I make each switch do that particular effect when I press it? I tried assigning the first switch (on the left) and it worked. I chose double-voice and the effect would go on or off as I pressed the switch. I tried to do the same with the second switch, with a different effect. It did not work, and it was somehow "hooked" to the first switch, meaning it would interfere with the operation of the first switch. I tried the third switch, and the same thing happened. I was not able to choose a different/independent effect for each switch. I am not a technically inclined person, and I feel that I have a Boeing 747 in front of me without clear instructions on how to fly it. At the same time, I've noticed that the documentation that came with both products is very poor, very superficial. I am having a very hard time trying to have fun with the two (Gigcaster 8 & the GA-FC EX pedal), and I am very frustrated. If you can help (or not), please let me know. Thank you for your attention. Claudio Lessa - in Winter Park, FL.

Hi, I don't know if you've seen some of the other MC-707 youtube videos, there's one showing you how you can change the track settings for the sound. If you change the sound source from "Track" to "Clip", you can change the voice of your sequence by changing clips. Really interesting to interact with the sequence from the Novation SL and automated clip chains from the MC-707. I'm hugely excited by this!

You can connect it to a bigger keyboard and get all the octaves plues better more handfreindly keys ?
@honeychileriderАй бұрын
Absolutely. Unlike him, I actually think the acoustic piano is great and I have a touring professional who comes over and practices at my place when he's coming through town using the CP through my old Yamaha 88-key keyboard instead of the acoustic-piano patches that are already in that keyboard. I use it to play around when I have down-time at work and then go home and connect it (MIDI) to my big Yamaha and use all of the CP's sounds.

Darn, I thought I could learn something, it turns out I know a lot more than you do about this and I don't have your fancy computer editing device can change the sensitivity of the attack depending on how you're playing is within it to get clean tracking to play fast

you need to tune the 8 voices 1st. can be a harmonoius chord or a discord. randomly turning and tweaking knobs will result in harsh sounds. it isn't a traditional synth. took me about 3 days to get comfoirtable with it

Great video. I was thinking along similar lines with the Morphagene but personally I would just put it in a 20 HP box (4ms for example) I think you sort of hinted at this earlier on in the stream. For the other modules are fun but the Morphagene has so much to offer on its own and I have plenty of LFO an other input/modulation from elsewhere. Even without any FX or modulation, on its own as a tape splice mangler its excellent. Krait is very cool though as is the FX.

Superb jam Gaz. I also have these two beasties; endless fun and much joy from the interaction. The universe has been in existence for more than 13 billion years and in all that time you just created an amalgamation of tones and textures never before heard. Now ain’t that special.

just one thing IMO, for the price range and the possibilitys of this thing, they made the oled screen waaaaaaay to small. absolute dont like this fact.

I have a wow and flutter, and I love it so much. If you dial the warp just right you got yourself a really good modulated delay. I also really love stacking it with other delays.

Hi Gaz and sorry for the rather dumb question ! Can i first record with no effects onto the miCROSD and then play it back and then insert the effects. I don't want to commit myself to printing the effect so would rather try the various effects on the dry recording.Thanks and really appreciate your video. The best i've found :)

Tried , can’t 🫣 surely there’s loads of rack units that blow it out the water! Of course but at about 8x the price. The modulation control and envelopes are nifty though.

To say "the best" Is really a pest. The rytm is really an astonishing drum machine and for a reason the most famous new drummachine. But it can't be the best. The best in which field? You have to admit a basic patch doesn't sound very pleasing. It is a complex machine and you need to program it. It isn't for beginners. A tanzbär is way more easy.it sounds just good and you can't do wrong. Alphabase is also very different. Most famous doesn't mean "the best". A lot of people just don't need such a complex machine or don't like the sound of it. The rytm is also.very boomy and i am always surprised how well the analog four does drum sounds. Or a vermona drm is also very complex when it comes to synthesis and sounds amazing to my ears. Choose your weapon.
