I hate it when people say Fox needs the ball and its a hy Halibitter and Fox would not work which is far from the Truth.... Its Halibitter ONLY who can't play off ball and cant share the ball with Fox. A lot of kings actions have Fox playing off ball.
@abemartin80955 ай бұрын
9:55 He literally had to switch on 3 different ball handlers driving to the rim and shut them all down.
@user-lm5ol7ue1c5 ай бұрын
You were ahead of the curve on Keon. I am building a team in the same mold as the Kings in 2k and I hated having to look at 6'0" pesky guards as the defensive option best suited behind a DFox type lead guard. Seeing you break down a 6'3 defensive minded role player like Keon makes more sense for my bench minutes at the 1. Great breakdown man. I am drafting 6'3 defensive minded 2 guard with potential to make simple read as a 1 in bench minutes and to couple with my DFox clone for hyper defensive lineups.

A stretch big with a roll big and a dynamic ball handler you say? So I should expect the Wolves to practice this play after getting destroyed by it.
@UhOhUmm6 ай бұрын
It would work for for them too since Edwards plays a bit like Fox.
@digitalvictory82666 ай бұрын
How can a defense respond against this? Should Fox's main defender just step back towards his own hoop, effectively negating the screens? (essentially "go under" the screen?)
@lylaeloise39486 ай бұрын
Yes I think Wolves should have hedged, recovered and then contested. Wolves really missed Jaden McDaniels - he is an elite screen navigator and would have been able to contest much better. Only Edwards could navigate the screen and was quick enough to contest Fox (4:33).
@digitalvictory82666 ай бұрын
@@lylaeloise3948 Thanks!
@lo20816 ай бұрын
Another way to respond to this would be switching. You have a guard thats guarding fox whose fighting off either screens (left or right depending on where Fox goes). Its critical to have the screeners' defender to be versatile defensively ( can guard both guards and bigs like a draymond type) to keep up with the speed. In this situation it can be considered unguardable because of Fox's lightning speed - which can be a nightmare for versatile defenders.

Love these breakdowns, thanks for putting in the time. Mike Brown is great but he needs work at making in-game tactical adjustments.

Fair critique, but at the same time, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Hence why they kept running that same play.
@JustinQuarles6 ай бұрын
I respect everyone opinions, but in no way or form would I want Mike Brown to take any coaching tips from a fan commenting in the KZfaq comments section 😂
@ProlIy6 ай бұрын
Hard disagree. You must be a new fan. Brown and Malone aside, pretty much every coach for almost two decades have been terrible. Luke Waltons run was some of the most brain dead depressing ball I've ever seen with 0 adjustments. See the puke game. This play in particular is unguardable because the bigs in Minnesota run drop coverage. If you got a guard like fox, its a double high screen and bu-bye. Dont need to adjust what isn't broken. This play broke the game open
@ianbent0n6 ай бұрын
@@ProlIy I've been a fan since 1994. Our best coach in that time was Rick Adelman. Malone was obviously good, but I'd throw Joerger in there too and I actually preferred him over Malone. As mentioned I love Mike Brown, he's instituted a pretty insane offense, he's a great motivator and culture guy, is raising our defensive game. But I just don't think in-game adjustments are his strength. He got outmaneuvered by Kerr in the playoffs last year. Also he doesn't draw up particularly creative out-of-bounds plays in the same way Joerger did. So yeah, I would stand by my statement that MB's weakness is tactics.

Nice. I was wondering what mike brown was talking about, I didn't recognize the play design in real time. I think we need an iso 3 or 4 still in the high post who can create on his own when fox isn't on the floor. Idk if trading the depth of the team is good though and HB is Mr. availability played all 89 last year.
@blowc16125 ай бұрын
It was so obvious in real time. Kings stopped running DHO scheme in the second half of this game and all you saw was this high post PnR double screen. If kings are running this scheme, expect fox assists to be high for the game. They run it against lengthy front court defenders.
