there is not such ritual actually David... he creates a symbol of how people should transcend borders of any kind... especially in the balkans with a past full of nationalistic atrocities this is scene is beyond beatiful, its substantial

@@evadoukaki9593 I understood the Romeo and Juliet type storyline, but struggled with some of the mad wedding (and therefore religious) rituals. But thank you for attempting to explaining it, Eva. That's appreciated. It's a lovely piece of film and directing that many actors, so far apart, must have been logistically challanging.

Ενα ποτάμι ως φράχτης που χωρίζει το αντρόγυνο, που χωρίζει τους ανθρώπους. Πριν αρκετές δεκαετίες ο ποιητής της εικόνας Αγγελόπουλος γίνεται προφήτης των όσων ζούμε σήμερα.

Δυστυχώς και πριν και τότε και τώρα και στο μέλλον θα τα ζούμε αυτά, όσο υπάρχουν αυτοί που θέτουν αυτά τα σύνορα αλλά κυρίως αυτοί που τους στηρίζουν.

Well, apparently the British film distributors, who, after a single showing at the London Film Festival deemed it not "commercial enough" to release. Lucky that I saw it then, but I was furious, because I was looking forward to another viewing. Plus, of course, Jeanne Moreau and Marcelo Mastroianni not commercial enough??!!
