Tarus took me on his journey many many years ago with OpenNMS and enjoyed every minute and this talk is a must-see, especially for the ones working in or with Open Source in business environments. Thank you for putting this together and I got a lot of flashbacks :)

Although open source software has become ubiquitous in software development, gaining support from companies to contribute back to open source projects remains a challenge. Effectively communicating the necessity and benefits of contributing to open source is an art form. Thank you for sharing these insightful perspectives!

Hello Anshum, the presentation is interesting; thanks for the detailed info! As it has been 10 month since this was presented, curious to know if this solution is officially released ! didn't noticed it in 9.x release notes

She is grossly incompetent and just in this position because of political reasons. It is completely ridiculous to maintain a client operating system for one city.

Great presentation and very practical. Will consider Vespa in the future as well. Just one thing that puzzles me regarding RRF & linear combination of lexical search and semantic search results: according to the given equation of RRF, there seems to be an assumption that both approaches provide the same level of recall performance and RRF only needs to reconcile the ranks **with equal weights**, while in reality, vector-based dense retrieval is expected to give better recall in general as lexical search may sometimes suffer from different languages used in query and document. The alpha factor in the linear combination formulation solves both the numerical scaling for the two approaches as well as the differences in recall and scoring and the plots show there is significant variations across different queries. Should the RRF curves also exhibit such variation as well and a model be used here to better fit the curve by taking in the query context and document? Of course there will be additional complexity and cost associated.

Great presentation from Lester! We are selecting a vector DB and Lester just gave me a pretty solid reason to chose Vespa. This is especially awesome considering the fact that he did not even talk about Vespa lol

Hey, awesome talk. Clickhouse seems really interesting. I was wondering, what is the difference between the open source version of Clickhouse and the managed cloud version? One of our customers needs an OLAP database, which has to be deployed on-premises. Would it lack any features (such as RBAC etc.) that are only available in the cloud version? Thanks and keep up the great work!
