Met Dr. Hawkins when he did a workshop in North Jersey in the early eighties. What a nice man! And such a great sense of humor. My buddies with me didn’t go to church much and I think he picked up on that. So he joked about if any of us were Raiders or 49ers fans. The workshop concert was amazing👏🏾

One of my most favorite groups. I had the privilege of seeing them in Rockford, Il many years ago. They had just gotten off the plane and the airline lost their luggage and wardrobe. They were unphased and still gave one of the best performances that I have ever heard.

I had the honor and pleasure to meet this wonderful Man of God in Atlanta, along with the great Richard Smallwood. How blessed I was to see their humility and kindness at a time before the 'Celebrity' mindset became a big issue in Gospel Music. After singing with the late, great Daryl Coley, and LaShun Pace Rhodes, I also experienced this same humility and it really encouraged me always keep God first and stay humble. At around 0:22: Ima just put it out there. Tremaine Hawkins was lowkey one of the most beautiful women in the world back in the day. Stunningly gorgeous.

There is and will never be another Hawkins family. My Mommie got saved alongside them, Walter her favorite and as a teen I dedicated my life and refused to listen to anything other than Gospel. I asked Mommie if I could listen to her Love Alive IV cassette (yes cassette) and did each morning until it popped. My peers rocked Biggie and others and I stood amongst them rocking Love Alive. I now am rearing my daughter on this very same, timeless music. This forever changed the game. Rest on Dr. Edwin, Rest on Dr. Walter and Rest on Emeritus Lynnette-well done, well done.

This is amazing. What an awesome, blessed time to hear from thee Dr. Edwin. Rest his soul we appreciate the value of what he and his family sacrificed and brought into fruition.

So, I have been listening to the Hawkins family and Love Alive choirs all day today (12/13/22). I am from Detroit but currently reside in a largely Muslim country in W. Africa. The people here are lovely, but I so needed all of this because I have been missing great gospel music the way it is sung in church at home. It has made me a little homesick, but it is very uplifting to my spirit. Thank you for uploading this video!
