What type of slide do you recommend on a fretted cbg with lower action? Almost impossible to do without hammering the frets . I figure I may have to raise the action up a bit unless a certain type of slide helps.
@SouthernFireGuitars20 сағат бұрын
If your action is real low, I would recommend using a thin walled slide, but if possible I would try to raise the strings at the bridge a bit. M~

@@SouthernFireGuitars you're very welcome, friend. As for questions... I never run out of those! I'll be honest, I don't have the means right now but I will before long, and I'd gladly pay that price for that sound and finish quality. And I have never heard a cigar box guitar til I watched this video. Heard of them, never heard one tho. It's like a banjo with balls, if I may.. I'm about to learn to build for the first time, but I couldn't do what you've done, and when I get the chance here soon, I sincerely want that swampcaster and gladly pay what you ask for it. That sound is worth it. Keep on crafting and inspiring, you're gifted at both brother.

@@SouthernFireGuitars Cheers mate...... I'm just in the middle of staining my first Leo Jaymz Tele kit with the colour scheme similar to a rustic 70's style Hi-Fi stereo system. I'm using RIT dye and finishing with Tru Oil. Those tuners might just be the ticket for this build. It's more for show than go, but I feel a slight addiction of DIY kits about to surge in the near future that will be taken a little more serious lol

What a great job you did with that $ 220 guitar and the guitar you used to copied the guitar I had never thought about ever playing or owning it but now I know different because of you breaking it down by you telling us about each part of the instrument thanks for that. I’m impressed with your results of the instrument you have rebuilt and how well it is performing. Keep up the good work and keep playing.

Suggestions for the newbies doing their intonation: get your actions height where you want it before trying to perfect your intonation - changing the action can have a lot of impact. When pressing the string down to the 12th fret, take care to go straight down, and with no more pressure than needed to get a clean note. Pressing too hard, especially behind the fret rather than right on it, also impacts intonation. Great stuff as always Michael! 👍
