The bees seal in the honey with a thin layer of wax. It’s like when we put a lid on a refrigerator container. But, when I’m trying to get that honey out, I can’t do it unless I scrape that thin layer off. …And this is how I do that!

Why didn't you replace some of the nastiest frames with new ones?
@TheKingOfBees12310 күн бұрын
That’s a great question. Since the frames in this hive were all structurally ok, I decided to leave them in here and let the bees rebuild the wax. The big issue here was definitely the wax being all torn up. But these bees will fix them up quick!

This amount of honey is caused by the rich area or by bee traits or another trick? 😅
@TheKingOfBees12314 күн бұрын
Location is key, plenty of flowers in the area is how they can make so much honey. I wish I could take credit, but the most I do is to take good care of my bees and give them good places to live. Thanks for the question!

Why do they do this only sometimes 😢
@TheKingOfBees12320 күн бұрын
If there is plenty of nectar to be collected, the bees will build up their wax pretty easily. I got kinda lucky with how perfect this frame looks. But since the bees knew there was now an empty space in the hive, they just built up a piece that fit there nicely. For a real trip, go watch my most recent long form video. That’s wax buildup on a whole other level!

So...are you letting them raise their own queen, or will you give them a queen?
@orchidquest22 күн бұрын
And why?
@TheKingOfBees12322 күн бұрын
Because this hive has not been able to raise its own queen so far, I will put a new queen in there. And she should take over the hive in a couple of days!
@joeyl.rowland415322 күн бұрын
Nope, there was a reason that girl stung you. She didn't just attack. Your movement, your smell, your proximity to the hive. Irregardless of what you think there was a reason that bee went postal. Mine do that every once in a while, I will catch one that just is not going to tolerate me and will give me the pointy present.😊😊😊
@TheKingOfBees12322 күн бұрын
lol, a pointy present?? I’ve never heard that but I love it. Of course, you’re right that there’s a reason. But… (that doesn’t make a very catchy video title). How long have you had bees for?

What makes some honey a light golden color and others a dark brown?
@TheKingOfBees12324 күн бұрын
The reason for all different shades of honey is because bees will collect from many different nectar sources. And, the molecular makeup of the nectar they bring in plays a big role in that. Much like the flowers they visit vary in color.
