Practice with the live blades at full speed is always fraught with danger. The difference between gutting yourself or not is the number of hours of practice before going to the live blades. I know some very well healed bladesman in the US, few will train with the long knives at full speed. 1/2"? Plenty of room to spare in a dynamic encounter. LOL

You can, and many times if the gun doesn't load a bb due to user era, it's then fired dry [ assuming you mean no ammo either in the gun or the chamber ]. One thing I've learned over 30+ years of using them [ I have two ] is that a few drops of light machine oil in the oil hole located on the barrel every 6 months keeps them working just fine.

I hear ya,

The equation/calculation used was simply to demonstrate what the size of a normal male would be at 100 yds. Not that one would have to worry about a drift of 9" at 100 yrds with any battle rifle unless in some sort of hard gale. Bullet drop would be nill at 100, and I'd simply raise the reference point to the upper chest, drop it right into COM.

Not just any sheath, it's a sheath that adjusts to your present position, whether standing or sitting with it's old world button. The knife and sheath used duplicates the old world 1840's system of carrying a large bowie knife adopted by the Spanish in New Orleans.

Worst case repercussions of failing would suggest being shot. But then, as the mentors reminded us often, you're theoretically dead while being muzzled. Make the move, do something. Don't just stand there being a victim, they may not even purposely pull the trigger, but if the gun goes off, you're getting shot. Far more serious repercussions than ending up with a knarly looking wrist.

@@sawssman965 The problem with the theory of giving into their demands is that history has shown us far too many instances of that happening and the perps still shot/killed them [ many so they couldn't later identify them later ]. The mentors didn't give us the skills so we could stand there like a deer in the headlights relying on some turds good graces not to shoot us if we complied. Instead they gave us skills so we didn't have to rely on that persons good graces.

It demonstrates [ again without stating as much ] that action beats reaction. Of course a layperson [ untrained in such skills ] wouldn't ever attempt to disarm a gunman without first having been shown "how to", and then multitudes of hours practicing [ like any skill where it's a mattr of life or death. I have a much greater chance of survival IF I don't rely on the perps good graces to not shoot me after compliance. If a novice believes they can duplicate what's demonstrated WITHOUT proper instruction and practice then they are just a little bit uneducated in SD skills to begin with, no matter what skill is being used. No one would think they could duplicate Bruce Lee's skills simply by watching, and if they are the type that does believe they can, well that simply suggests they are 1 D 1 0 T's. OMMV.

Put 3 more in the middle of those two, hit them all just as easily. Distance for this skill is relegated to no more than 12 feet to be as reliable as what's shown in this video. Using the proper skill based on time and distance is paramount to staying alive on the streets. If you meant stagger them at different distances, that's no issue as long as you keep the threats within this skills range.
