I drove through the land between the lakes on my first visit to the USA. Very sure it was on the way up from Tennessee to Kentucky, saw Golden Pond and a buffalo park, and beautiful countryside. Maybe yours is a different one. Still beautiful though.

Thank you for the video, My daddy ran that dragline in the 80’s & early 90’s…. He would take me to work with him when he worked nightshift, I was about 5 or 6 and I would sit in his lap and he would let me run the hand controls while he controlled the feet. I have very fond memories of that big machine! He would make me a pallet in the floor of the locker room near the cab and Id sleep while he worked….

The Eastern PA coal mines, those are called "strippens". Use as in, I'm goon up dah strippens drinkin. Bootlegging wasn't making whiskey but mining coal and selling it yourself instead of being a company slave.

I have rode several trails that were the result of strip mining. Very beautiful country. My Wife's Grandfather owned lan that was strip mined. He used to sit on his porch and count trucks in and trucks out to keep track of his income from the coal. Later they discovered oil and gas on the same property. I can't believe in todays society we can't come up with a way ,to burn coal cleanly. Sounds like the gas companies don't want us to. Just like your car. The electric companies don't want you driving a gas or diesel powered vehicle. Money talks (buys politicians) and bull pucky walks (the main thing that comes out of a politican's mouth).
