Excellent review. As time goes on, there are fewer and fewer sources of critical watch journalism that collector can get their hands on. So I appreciate this one very much. As for the watch, it’s really good looking and priced a bit too high.

Greetings!! One of my favorite watches, if not the most; I saw it for the first time in a watch shop back in 2005, and I fell in love with it. It's a shame that my finances don't share my feelings😂.

I have one of the first one's of these with the 5100-movement. Fantastic watch to wear. One of the design-features of the watch that I appreciate a lot is the combination of the matt, black dial, the blacked out inner parts of the hands and the greenish, lumed, outer parts of the hands. It makes the hands kind of float on the dial in normal light. The hidden peekaboo minute hand with wings (on the first model) is also cool. Thank you for covering these wonderful old gems that are a bit off the beaten track.

The NATO strap in this video is a matte supreme from Crown & Buckle - very nice straps.

they shouldve just made a dual time 12 hr bezel and had the date window under the 12 and the 6 a normal dial hour marker, the font it too hard to see on this date window and the gmt is covered by hands, also that way you get the gmt functionality with the bezel and hopefully could use a thinner movement/case

I own the same watch. Bought it at the AAFES watch counter when I was stationed on Ramstein AFB GE in the late ‘90s. It compliments my Omega moon watch. Great story behind both timepieces. Great YT review. 👍

Really cool watch, for some reason I always forget about Fortis. I've only really noticed you and Rob Nudds (TRTS) particularly talking about them, in fact. Great stuff. 👍

I have a L.E. version of this watch, with the 9 o'clock sub dial picturing the earth and the ISS floating in space before it. I collect space watches and I love this watch! Thanks for high lighting this watch.

Outstanding video! I am the proud owner of a the "diver configuration" of this watch: Lemania 5100, indices instead of Arabic numerals and a unidirectional bezel. Absolute legend IMHO. This watch as well as the Omega Speedmaster MK40 are proof that a 5100 / 7750 powered watch doesn't need to be bulky at all.

Beautiful piece, it speaks to the sensibilities of the old regime. A new micro brand could never produce this or reproduce it. Somethings just need stay in the past and be appreciated for what they were.

I have the blue MN23 and absolutely love it. I have many other great watches, the FXD being the cheapest. Yet, it's my most worn and enjoyed watch over this past year. I previously owned the LHD and gave it up due to the thickness. I thought I'd miss the bracelet, but I don't!

Question: Is the GMT really NOT a GMT? Some of Unimatic's photos show two different time zones (1 time with the hands and a different time on the rotating disk).
@TheDeepTrack
@TheDeepTrack 9 күн бұрын
It's a 24 hour disc that works similar to a 'caller' style GMT. It can be adjusted on its own, however it will adjust in sync with the main hour hand of the watch. Not great for traveling, but potentially useful in other ways, I suppose.

Owning a Rolex Explorer II 16570 for 27 years is like having a reliable adventure buddy that's always ready for the next challenge. This watch has seen countless sunrises, mountain hikes, and spontaneous road trips.

Worth noting, plastic parts aside, premier Seiko watchmaker Spencer Klein lauds the 7002 as well made, reliable, and robust than its predecessor the 6309.

Man, you do some great stuff but you seriously need to explain who these people are in the headers. If we don't already know the name and why they're interesting, why would we click play? I know you have a strong editorial background, and surely you want views? I don't get it... (meant in good faith)

I'm quite torn between the two. On one hand I really love the classic look of the black dial, it's a true icon. On the other I like the white one, I think it's the black bezel that doesn't quite sit 100% with me, not sure. But I think the classic black dial is the one I'm going for.
