Can you please tell me what I should do when the test strip does not show the light brown color. Should I increase or decrease hardness?
@Inyopools
@Inyopools Күн бұрын
The color brown is not mentioned in the Taylor instructions for this calcium hardness test. At what point are you seeing brown in your test tube? 1. Rinse and fill 25 mL sample tube (#9198) to 25 mL mark with water to be tested.* 2. Add 20 drops R-0010 Calcium Buffer. Swirl to mix. 3. Add 5 drops R-0011L Calcium Indicator Liquid. Swirl to mix. Sample will turn red if calcium hardness is present. 4. Add R-0012 Hardness Reagent dropwise, swirling and counting after each drop, until color changes from red to blue. 5. Multiply drops of R-0012 Hardness Reagent by 10. Record as parts per million (ppm) calcium hardness as calcium carbonate (CaCO3). * When high calcium is anticipated, this procedure may be used: Use 10 mL sample, 10 drops R-0010, 3 drops R-0011L, and multiply drops in Step 4 by 25.

Excellent video and I’m about to do this but what is the glue you used? It didn’t look like that was any of the Loctites, which are more aggressive and could make removal of the gasket later a difficult task.

You can try silicone lube, which is very sticky, but it is not as effective as an adhesive. Loctite 416 is available in pool and hardware stores in our area. I don't know where you live, and even if I did, I don't know what specific products are available in your area. But you can go to a hardware store and ask for rubber to plastic adhesives.

i am having issues with my hayward aquarite system. The only light I see green is power. I tried to recalibrate it by turning it off then on, like in your video and no change. The numbers on the screen do not move, unless I hit the diagnostic button. Had my sat cell tested and no issues. My water can't hold free chlorine. About 31,000 gallons and I have been adding a case of shock every week and within 3 days, 0 FC. I tried to locate the T on my screen and it is no where to be found. I am using the T15. I get my water tested and the salt is within the range. My voltage is 32 then I hit diagnostic button and I see 0.00 which is my amps on my cell. How do I know if my mother board is bad or is it is the entire Hayward system?

@Inyopools

The Dolphin E20 would be suitable for a kidney-shaped pool as long as the pool's length doesn't exceed 33 feet. As for its suitability for cloverleaf pools, you'd have to try your luck on that one. There's no definitive information regarding its efficacy on uniquely shaped pools.

Everything here is common sense except for removing the cap with the strap wrench, which is glossed over at 1:17. The cap will likely be nowhere near that easy to twist, and also you can't put a strap wrench on the base of the cap as instructed, the lip is too small to grip there. Instead you have to put the strap on the top of the cap and if there is a safety tag in the way there you will need to cut a slot behind the tag to make room for the strap. And you may (will probably) have to use way way more force than shown here.

It's more of a safety issue. Or it could start raining, or someone could decide to start mowing the lawn - or they could use a thin gauge cord not rated for outdoor use. It will be there for at least a few hours - it's easy to forget it.

Our skimmer door seems to get stuck in the 2/3 of the way up position allowing very little water flow when the pump is on. When I manually go push the skimmer door down then it is fine and gets started ok. If I don't manually push it down it seems to stay stuck in the up position. I'm not finding debris or other items in the sides as to why it might be staying stuck on the plastic on the sides in the up position. Any advice?

Will a leak at the SP715 valve drain the pump well overnight? I rebuilt the valve with a GO Kit 39, but the non-metallic/plastic gasket/bearing hole was too small to go over the shaft, so I opened it up with a Dremel tool, figuring the O-rings on the shaft provided the seal. There's a small amount of water around the bearing all the time, and the pump well drains down to the top of the basket.
@Inyopools
@Inyopools 19 күн бұрын
I'm sorry, but I do not understand what you mean about the bearing on the valve. Also, is this pump and filter on a pool or a well? The valve is after the pump, so it is on the pressure side of the system. If there was an opening, water would spill out, not bring in air. If the leak is big enough, it could drain enough water from the pool to cause the skimmer to gulp in the air, leading to a loss of prime.

I did this, now the motor is very noisy, with high pitched noise. What'd I do wrong? Thank you
@Inyopools
@Inyopools 19 күн бұрын
The noise you are describing is what a bad bearing would cause. So, the short answer is either the bearing was installed incorrectly or a bad bearing was installed. The only way to figure out what's wrong is to take the motor apart again. There are a lot of steps to this process, but a large number of things could have gone wrong.

My pre-filter lid only rotates about a half an inch to lock, maybe 10°. It looks like the lid in this video rotates about 30°---should mine rotate further?
@fredbloggs6080
@fredbloggs6080 21 күн бұрын
I had a new single speed Hayward one horsepower pump installed for my inground pool a number of months ago. From the beginning it was making too much noise I felt, and it had a large maybe 4 inch air bubble under the lid. The installer said that's because this pump draws more water than the previous one and it's not getting enough water flow from the 2 inch piping, and/or let it run overnight to get the air out all sorts of stuff. From the beginning when locking the lid it would only turn about half an inch to lock recently it was losing its prime overnight, and starting again in the morning and would run dry for I don't know how long before noticed it a couple times and stop the pump open the lid added more water and when I restarted it would prime again after a little while. But after I used Magic Lube II silicone that I had on hand and the bubble became about 1 inch diameter and the pump was quieter, and it kept its prime overnight. I was annoyed that the installer gave all sort of excuses when it was really just it needed lubricant or the the lid wasn't right to begin with. I pointed this out to the pool guy this morning, and he said that he services several other pools with the same pump, and the lid will rotate 90° to lock, which is my expectation based on previous pumps. So is this a defective lid or the wrong lid for the pump? I paid for a new pump. Early on when I asked the installer about the small travel to lock it he said that's normal, but I have my doubts. I see the lid on your pump looks like it rotates about 30°.

Why could there be imense water pressure on one return jet and the other 3 are weak? Is that a clog?
@Inyopools
@Inyopools 19 күн бұрын
Is the return jet with the strongest stream the nearest to the pool pump? If so, the strong jet releases most of the water pressure before it reaches the other 3. Or, maybe there is a diverter valve that got fiddled with causing the difference in pressure.
