I love my Empress Compressor! I’d love to see how you use it and your settings! Do you keep the tone shaping switch neutral or use the EQ shapes?

Wow, this is a review I’ve been looking for so long…swamp ash body Wenge neck 5 string finger style 80s jam (rather than just slap or metal or blues in other videos). Thank you! There is a big difference btw the tones, Wenge has much more bottom, thick, fat. I think if change finger board to Indian rosewood on the Wenge one, may sound even warmer/better? 😊

Perfect cover. Your added galloping and other filler notes makes this bassline even more exciting and sexy. 20/10

It’s been such a long time since we’ve seen this bass. I’m glad to see you bringing it back out.
@JoeCalderone8 күн бұрын
Yes! While it sometimes gets overshadowed by the ‘72 I was able to pick up a few years ago, this bass still plays amazingly, and it’s also the first pro level bass I ever owned. It was my big Christmas gift way back in 2006 🎄

Hi there! did you need another preamp or boost the gain of the interface?
@JoeCalderone13 күн бұрын
I don’t think so. The pedal itself is plenty loud, if anything I might have turned down the volume of the actual songs a bit just to avoid clipping overall

That's THE bass cover, using Geddy's technique. Supercool!
@Lord_Verminaard27 күн бұрын
This was very interesting! I agree, I feel like the maple sounded better and more "Geddy" than the Wenge when clean-ish, but I liked the Wenge better distorted. Although they both sounded awesome and I would probably choose based on appearance really! 😄
@valerinaatas28 күн бұрын
My vote goes to Wenge, so nice high mid chime without too much of anything 🤌🏻 Awesome comparison man!
@leftrightguitar588028 күн бұрын
Love that maple overall and it really cuts through, although there's a few spots down low where I think the tone of the wenge is pure bliss. Really cool vid!! I would also like to see a vid on that compressor.

I noticed my ebony neck is softer when compared to my maple neck bass. My fingers don't feel as fatigued playing my ebony fingerboard
@IvanBassist28 күн бұрын
Loved the maple one! Now for the ultimate test, unbolt the necks and swap them 😂
@JoeCalderone28 күн бұрын
I thought about this but just felt like a little too much work, I have both set up nicely and didn’t wanna accidentally ruin anything.

I tend to care less and less about these small tonal differences as of late. Your 1972 Fender Jazz sounds so good I want to steal it. But then on some of the covers you're using a Strandberg, and it sounds equally fantastic (so do your Saito basses). In the end, it's all about your technique and feel of the music. (But yeah, maple neck winz 4sure).
@JoeCalderone28 күн бұрын
The ‘72 is very stealable, please don’t though! 😅 it definitely has an unmatched vibe. Lots of wisdom in that 50 year old bass

Wow, that tooone! Thanks for introducing this band to me, it has an Arch Echo x Sithu Aye vibe I'm really digging. I've been using Quadbass to great success, if you want to see some use for electronic tones check out the recent "Breakdown" videos on my channel, each has a little section dedicated to bass and Quadbass by extent! 💛

Nicely done! I love the drive and flow of this song. Very cool that you seem to use the right hand technique that Geddy uses... although I am not sure I know all that is involved there - is it always just the index finger?
