Do use dpad analogue stick or motion controls? The movements look much smoother than i remember it looking like when im playing

I tried playing the Rayman Legends online challenges last week (on PS3) and it didn't work, there was a message on screen saying "Ubisoft servers are momentarily unavailable. Please try again later." At first I just thought it was a connection error but then I tried it again just now and it still doesn't work. I remember playing the challenges a few months ago and everything was working fine, so I don't know what happened.
