No, I cannot let you say that and not get chastised. Qbert is not a game about getting to the top, it's about color changing squares on a pyramid. what else are you getting wrong?
@GENXPERIENCE22 сағат бұрын
H, you're right. It is about changing colors. It'd been so long since I played. Thanks for the clarification. What else? I know, watch every single one of my videos, make a list, and make sure to chastise me. Thanks for the views in advance.

What about "The Ballad of Jed Clampett" from "The Beverly Hillbillies"?
@GENXPERIENCEКүн бұрын
It is true, although from 1962...it clearly was before Gilligan's Island's 1964 storytelling...so truly that is probably earliest.
@skylx0812Күн бұрын
For me Leon Redbone was an aquired taste but I did like his theme to "Mr. Belvedere". My sis and I thought it was going to be cheesy fluff but it was actually prettt funny.
@GENXPERIENCEКүн бұрын
Okay, I see where you are going with that. I will admit that Mr. Belvedere wasn't memorable for me...but that doesn't mean I didn't watch it. But I thank you for watching and for the comments.
@skylx0812Күн бұрын
Not so much story telling but it does set the mood: Maureen McGovern's theme to "Different Worlds" is pretty catchy and I think it got radio airplay as well. Also the chorus theme to "Its A Living" and the Sherman Hemsley show "Amen". And I liked the instrumental theme to ALF and honorable mention to the theme to its animated series.
@GENXPERIENCEКүн бұрын
The instrumental for ALF is a Winner in my book. I did think of Diff'rent World...but it wasn't quite fitting my criteria, lol. I watched Amen, but going to have to revisit that one. Thank you

There also was a non-canon Pac Man story / song record! Where is that now?
@GENXPERIENCE2 күн бұрын
Oh, my. You just turned on a memory for me. I do remember that now.
@VJFranzK2 күн бұрын
We didn't know they were Mid - Low quality. There were fun at the time! Pac Man was the most influential, because they actually made the proto- SMB PacLand! (Also, Pre-Simpsons, notice?) Now it's non-canonical with a more sonic-like identity for Namco's Pac Man
@GENXPERIENCE2 күн бұрын
Of course we didn't know their quality. They were often shoddy, but you can be both "cheesy" and awesome at the same time...especially when we were kids.

The original artwork of The Towering Inferno (painted by artist John Berkey) sold at auction for $350.000 in 2023.
@GENXPERIENCE2 күн бұрын
Doesn't surprise me. The artwork in that era (especially the 70s) had such a raw style that made us use our imaginations. Love those so much. Thank you for sharing that.

A theme song fanatic here! When I was a kid and got a tape recorder for my birthday, I was on cloud nine. I used to tape the theme songs of TV shows as well as the shows themselves and listen to them later. Very weird, I know, especially by today's standards, but this was before the VCR and even those are now obsolete. (But I still own one.) Thanx for all the memories, Victor!

This is awesome. Sure, it might sound weird, but we all did some weird stuff, and it was the time...there was no other options. You were a head of you time and I love this story. Thank you for watching and sharing. Theme Songs FOREVER!

@@GENXPERIENCE I just think it was a tired retread of the infinity better Foul Play. That comedy, thriller, romance had true chemistry between Goldie and Chevy Chase, who was never better, you mentioned it being original and I vehemently disagree, You also gave me a laugh when you said Rogers and Ebert. 😀

I'm a baby boomer and even I remember a lot of these shows that were on Saturday mornings. Ya, there was nothing like waking up and getting a big bowl of sugary cereal and sit back and watch the Saturday morning cartoons and live action shows on TV. I miss those days in the 70's and the Saturday morning TV shows.
@GENXPERIENCE3 күн бұрын
We had a nice cross over there in the early 70s for sure. Plus reruns helped a lot for some of these, but there is no arguing how great it felt. The simply Saturday morning life for a kid. Thanks for watching.

It is amazing how hearing the theme song to a TV show takes me back to being a kid in the 70s and a teen in the 80s. I have several on my music list like the themes to Hill Street Blues, Magnum PI, The Rockford Files, Black Sheep Squadron, etc. All Hail Mike Post!

not really a movie from 70s or 80s, but the poster for a Polish movie called 'On the Silver Globe' made me feel intrigued with it, to a point where I wanted to buy the poster even! But the poster I'm talking about is specifically with a man looking towards the viewer, it's such a well done poster :>

Well, intrigued, I look at it, and I am not kidding when I say the subject stared right through my soul. It is striking. I think it is 1988 movie. Not one I know or in the pop culture zeitgeist, but still AWESOME. Thanks for introducing me to it.

Theme songs are definitely a lost "art." Even instrumental ones like MASH and Taxi hold up -- in that regard, some did last into the modern era (by that I mean a decade or so ago with shows like The Office and Parks & Recreation having themes that are memorable). When you constantly strip things down to the bare bones, you lose something, and I think the dumping of theme songs to free up more commercial time or to just save time and money is one of those moves that has really taken away from so many shows.
@GENXPERIENCE3 күн бұрын
Agreed. And yes, instrumentals (even those that came later) can be so very nice and still work in that same way. But those abrupt starts, the lack of build up is just missed by me...and others, I think.
